How many cuemakers made the cut?

How many cuemakers who presented designs for the "design your dream cue" made the first cut? I don't know everyone's handles on here so paste up Cuemaker next to all known cuemakers in the thread. I did not recognize very many, so it seems maybe the public can design better than cuemakers according to the first cut. I knew my design was hard to build and expensive to build so I did not expect to make the final five.

Here is the second cut. No one has posted any cuemakers making either cut so far. I guess we will have to build our dream cues ourselves. :)

I did not submit a design, but its also my wild wild guess chris:) Any way congrats to those who are in..and hats off to Bill..
 
I was a little curious about that myself! I didn't see any cuemakers make the list, but I don't know all the cuemakers on AZ either.

Michael,

I really don't know anyone's handle on AZ so I didn't just eliminate cuemakers.

I have a few friends that submitted designs and I didn't know their handles either. They were apparently eliminated also.

Just trying to do the best I can. Not easy when there are so many new ideas.

I don't understand why ANY cuemaker would submit his dream design for someone else to build. I can understand that maybe he doesn't currently have the skills or special equipment (e.g. cnc, etc) to execute on that dream design, but I would still keep the design to myself with the hopes that I would get there some day.

Cudos to Bill for starting that thread though. I had been watching it, and a lot of good ideas were brought to light. In return, I wish he would share some of his wisdom in this part of the forum once in a while.

What you may not know is that many of us cuemakers are also collectors. I added a Joss West to my collection yesterday as a customer traded it in to me. Bill's cues are highly collectable and it would have been an honor to have one of his cues in my collection that was a master piece design. But for now I will have to settle for a 1989 middle of the road type design. I also took a Ginacue in on trade a couple of weeks ago. Now I am looking for a high end early 80's McDermott and a late 70's to early 80's high end Mali. It is almost like insider trading as I know who has almost made the cut for the hall of fame in the past. :wink: My interest is in hall of famer cues.
 
My motivation was a free cue from a great cuemaker.
Plain and simple.
I'm sure that was the motivation of 99% of the contestants.
I definitely have the capability of building the cue I designed, but if he
is going to build it for me, for free, why not give it a shot.

Hi Mr. Stroud
There is nothing about what you are doing that I would perceive as easy. Very tough decisions you have to make with what I consider a mind boggling offer. I have a long History in this Industry and you and I are certainly not strangers. I have worked on your older cues as well help the locals in the maintenance of your newer cues. Nothing but praise leaves my lips when it comes to your work. I did not submit a design, when the time comes, that I want to add one of your cues to my collection, I will show you proper respect and buy one.
