How many cues is too much?

It's always nice to decide which cue I'll pick today as a player. Should I take one of my Scruggs, a Richard Black, a Pechauer, a Joss, a McDermott or my Cousins. They all create a victim.

Hello, I was wondering how many cues does the average player have.. right now I have two complete sets that include shooter, jump, and break in two different bags. So I can just grab the set I want and go... how many do you guys have and is this too much...
I only play with one, but didn't realize how many I have till you brought it up.

One cue for me is too much.
I'm rather spartan. I don't like carrying around equipment. I play off the wall because it make me feel free, relaxed, and unburdened.
Not sure what I'll do if I ever have to play in a venue that doesn't offer house cues. I guess I'll cross that bridge when it appears.

Though if Joss ever wants to sponsor me, that's the only cue I might ever "burden" myself with. That's a very big might however.

Lived in a small town for a while where the old Doc liked guns. When he passed there were hundreds. Short of 1000 but the auction for them was crazy. I don’t know the final total of what he had. I heard different numbers but all over 500.

Every guy in town was happy. How can a wife complain if you can say “I don’t even have a hundred yet dear…”

Depends what you like. I like cues but like to hit with them sometimes.. so I’ll probably not get into triple digits. You never know though.😉

3-4 cues which includes a break/jump cue. Anything more is because you have a reason for owning more than that and mine is because I need a pool cue for everyone of my children and grandkids as a memento. Otherwise 3-4 cues seems adequate.

When I had 3-5 cues I would still only play with one. The one I felt played the best, the one I am trying to be get most familiar with. So for me, I cue, 2 shafts and perhaps a second cue if something should happen to my player.

It felt stupid to have cues sitting in case, never played. I was never going to be a collector, so I sold everything but 2 cues.

So my answer 2 cues max unless you are a collector.

I sold a few of my cues a couple of months back. Planning on selling 1 or 2 of them soon. Just had a new one that came in about 2 weeks ago. And another one being built as of this moment.
I made room for this cue.

I own two playing cues (Bobs Dzuricky and Frey), a jump cue (Woody Woodworth), and a discreet bar cue (converted Canadian Dufferin without points or joint collars). I've never used the butt of my jump cue. I screw its phenolic-tipped shaft onto the Bob Frey "Sneaky Pete" (the cocobolo butt is anything but sneaky), and use that combo as a breaking cue.

Unless I'm familiar with and comfortable in a particular pool room, I only take the bar cue.

I could easily get by with only the bar cue. Its shaft and tip are meticulously maintained, which is all that matters for playing well. The other cues are for vanity.
