How much $$$ do you have invested???

Guess this is as good a thread as any to jump in to :) Just found this board a few weeks ago and have remained in lurker mode up to now. I've currently got around $3k invested. As with several others - that's an ever growing number. Looking for a new bk/j cue and another case.

Gotta say that I LOVE my schuler. :D

CaptJr - I have no clue what my investment's worth to others, but after shooting with house garbage and bottom of the barrel sticks for >20 yrs ... having a cue that hits like a cue should - is priceless :) I wish I would have made better investments earlier in my game.

In my locker I have a Skip Weston and Omega/DPK sitting in a Porper 2x4 case. In a plastic sleeve is my Rick Howard Mace J/B. Thats roughly $2750.

My performance ability is not currently supplying a return on my initial invensment.

i know this thread is talking about equipment you take to the hall, but since i'm getting a table, i'll include everything.

cues, case, equipment, books, lessons, table................i'll include all of that, because after all, everything adds up into this "investment"

i don't even want to really see the numbers, but i know its >10,000.....

I guess I am a dirt bag player, a Timex watch kind of guy...my total playing package right now comes in under a $100. A Players j/b with a soft tip for playing and an extra shaft from a Bunjee jump for breaking and jumping. The quick release joints make the change overs seemless time wise. I also have an extention for the j/b I slide on when I have the butt part off which gives me a couple extra inches for hitting cb's frozen to the rail which I want to stop or draw slightly, this configuration also comes in handy for short soft masses....

I don't spend much time being a watch dog over my equiptment...I prefer to have fun and just play the game....not a googan...LOL

P.S. My case was given to me by someone...I concider my package an investment that has paid for itself many times over and I don't care if someone lifts it......Oh, I nearly forgot I have a tip tapper that I found...LOL...and a small piece of 600 grit in my pocket...

NOW THAT IS CHEESY

Oooohhh Noooo.

This sounds like the wife found where someone is posting.

How much have I spent vs. how much I'll admit to??

I'm not tellin :)

I will still need a place to sleep in case she ever does read this.

Great job there Cheeseman...

I'm kinda cheap, too. After my teammates harassed me for years about my nylon soft case with purple trim :p , I finally bought a new case at the state tourney. I paid $25 for it. ;) The old case worked wonders for me as anyone I played figured I was an amateur...after all, what real player would carry a piece of crap like that?

I like the small, soft case as I can carry it around for a whole day and not be tired. And most of the time, I simply carry my cue from car to bar and don't need much protection. Plus, I can hang my case from my Cue Nook and it is out of the way and hard to steal when I play.

I put two cues in it: j/b CueTec and my s/p Predator 314. If I could still get the Steve Mizerak cues that KMart used to sell, I'd probably still be playing with one. Man, I loved those things and I loved it when somebody saw me with one and assumed I sucked---big advantage for me. They hit really well and only cost $20 -$40 each. I called them the disposable lighter of cues. Nothing better than using one to beat some guy with a $1000 stick. But, alas, they're all gone now, stolen or broken or lost.

Total value, case and all the stuff: $400, so I can go to the bathroom with only the stick in my pants. :D

Jeff,
My friends seem to fell sorry for me because they keep giving me stuff after they upgrade. One guy gave me a 3x6 case and I used it once at a tournament; too heavy, too much stuff.....hehehe It now sits in my home room and is utilized as a cue rack. My biggest problem is finding my cue, I'm always leaving it laying somewhere in a bar or tournament site and it seems everybody and their cousin has a player j/b, they all look alike....I may have to put some duct tape on mine...LOL
I still feel like I've done my part in supporting the pool equiptiment industry because 25 years ago I just had some piece of crap two piece with a big rubber band as the case. The rubber band always on the butt when playing....

Currently I have 2 configuration because I switch my primary shooting cue around a little.
Config 1.
Shooting Cue: Omega/DPK.
Back Up Cue: Mike Bender
Break Cue: Mace Jump/Break
Case: J&J 3x5 Pro Series Case
Accessories: Not much; a towel, a chalk, a tip shaper and some business cards...
Total for this configuration: Approx $4500

Config 2.
Same as the above but the shooting cue would be my newly acquired Barry Szamboti cue (no pics yet)..Total for this configuration: Approx $6200..

And if you ask me, why I use a cheap case to store these cues, well I love that case!!! Not only do I use it, but I sell them too. :D

Hey AZB'er's

Got this idea from another thread about breaking your cues down and casing them when not playing...

So, here's the question...

How much money do you have invested in your everyday gear?...ie what's in the case that you carry, use and play with everyday?...include your case, cue's and favorite accesories...just thought it would be interesting to know what the average 'Player' had invested in our favorite pastime...
__________

Guess I should tally up...

Schon LTD - $740, (thx to Erik)
Jerico Stinger - $295
Instroke Buffalo - $325
Misc - $100

Hey Sean,
Hope that Schon LTD I sold you is treating you well.....If you ever need anything in the future, look me up!!
Thanks,
Erik

This is a true story. I met this guy in Japan looking for a new tip on his breaker and no one wanted to touch his cues.

So, I asked him, "what kind of cue are you using for break?"

He replied casually, "it is a Gus Szamboti..."

I then asked out of curiosity, "what do you play with?"

" Just a Balabushka..."

I cannot really remember what kind of case he was carrying. I think it was may be a Swift?

By the way, I am talking about authetic Szamboti and Balabushka in case you are wondering.

How much is in his *everyday* case? I have no idea... ;)

OMG, that's too funny!

When I picked up my cue from Barry he made me break 3 racks of 9-ball with it. I really hesitated and broke badly each time. He asked me why I was hesitant and I told him I've seen what happens on a miscued break shot with an ivory ferrule. He laughed and told me he'd replace the ferrule if that ever happened. Never did break with my Boti afterwards. Okay, maybe 14.1, but that's it.

And yeah, I've got a $$$ idea of what I have, but it doesn't matter, it's priceless to me.
