Anyone know how much money is in escrow for the Open? I heard 50k, but that can't be right. That's only 100 entries. Anyone know if they got the 20k title sponsor they were still looking for a week or so before start date? How does the gate look so far? Johnnyt

I wouldnt count out 'none' as an answer.

This is what Barry announced officially, in an AZ news article:

We will be adding a minimum of $50,000.00 and with a full field up to $72,000.00. 90 days prior, August 15, $50,000.00 and all paid entry fees to date will be secured in a special escrow account along with a very well respected and trustworthy leader of the game of pool and we will announce this gentleman very soon.

So it's 50k, PLUS all entry fees up to that date. Which won't be many, pool players are notorious for
getting their entries in pretty late.

Here's my two questions:

1. Who is the "respected and trustworthy leader of the game of pool"? Mark Griffin?
2. How do you count "90 days" from august 15th to october 15th? That's 60 days.

That quote was from Barry. Who knows if it is actually true.... There might be zero in that account.

That said, on another thread, someone there at the open posted that Archer stood up at the players meeting and said the money was in escrow. Now, Archer does not have the best track record now due to the BB payment issues. Also, I don't believe he stated how much was actually in escrow. I forgot what thread that was, but it was just a couple days ago.
