How much table time?

How much time to you typically spend at the table daily/weekly/etc...?

I have just started to get back into the game after a looooong layoff, and so far the only day I can play is on Saturday, so far I have had a 6hr and 7hr session. Trying to build up my stamina.

Seems like there is a lot of posting going on here, and I am enjoying reading all of it, but how much time do you guys/gals actually get to play?

Thanks!

I play two hours every morning, from 6am - 8am. I'm lucky I work from home so I'm showered, shaved, walked the dog, had breakfast and at my desk by 9am.

One league match for ~1.5 hours most Thursdays.

About once a month I play a weekend tournament. That can range from 2 hours on the table if I go two and out to ~8-10 hours on the table if I cash.

About once a month I get a practice session in. Figure 4-5 hours on the table.

So on average, I'm on the table about 3 hours a week. It's all I can do to hang with the guys who don't have jobs/wives.

30 minutes a day at my home before supper, usually focusing on precision CB positioning followed by half/table multiple ball runouts focusing on predicting 3 ball patterns.

Saturday mornings are at the Senior Center on some gorgeous AMF 9 footers, devoted to an hour or so with a couple of retired geezers who spent a few years as road players.

I work at home, so I am at the table several times a day from 15 minutes to an hour or more at a time, depending on how my back holds out. All told, 2-3 hours a day most days.

Then my wife and I play a bit in the evening, or on the weekends if friends come over. We may join a league in the near future, and that will increase my time at the table.

Between all these things, I watch as many quality streams and matches on YouTube as I can find. Bad as I am, I never get sick of pool, but I do have an addictive personality.

Just got my table Saturday :) played 16hrs - took me that long to make a ball(10 footer) just kidding. But I did pay for it the next day

As much as ya can !

I'm in a league and every session we seem to get at least 1 new player. They all think they can hang,.... and even beat about half the peops in the place. The first few weeks, everyone is nice-nice to the noobs. :grin-square:Then it all comes out and they find out itsa tough time even beating the S/L 3's in the place. Up here, ppl play in multiple leagues, on multiple teams, so they may play 5-6 times /week in matchplay.
I tell the noobs that it is all about quality practice as well as quantity of practice. Banging balls around is not the same as drills. That said, I tell them they need to get in a solid 10hrs + of good practice in order for them to get competitive.
Had 4 newbies last session:
1 quit (job change)
1 quit ( got tired of losing)
1 still struggling(,but slowly improving)
1 actually went up and is a threat to anyone in our league at that skill level

I'll let you guess which one puts in the practice time.

I spare Mon nights on occasion. If not, practice at the hall. Tues, Wed, Thurs, league nights.

Sat afternoon, regular weekly 9 Ball Tourney. If I get bored, Sun night practice at the hall.

And ya know what, I still suck a lot at times. Well, at least maybe I am consistent at sucking.

Actually, this is one year that I really buckled down with the league and practice and it has paid off nicely. It is starting to really show.

Probably never more focused on winning than I ever was.

Vegas Tourney starts tonight guys, wish me luck cause this is the year that our team has worked hard and we do have a decent chance.

Flu bug tho. Wish it would leave me alone for the next few hours. I have to play tonight, no way around it.

Right now between home and 5 leagues a week, no less than 30 hours a week. As BCA & APA nationals get closer I will double it

I wonder if all the league players understand that watching other people on the team shoot isn't playing???

I play about 2 to 3 hours per weekday, sometimes more. I have league on Wednesday nights, but I play on my home table after that. On the weekends, I usually play 6-10 hours total.

If the live streamers would stop bringing us tons of great content for free or at reasonable cost, I'd probably be playing more! :-)

I just setup my laptop right next to the table so I can practice and watch at the same time

Good point. I've tried that a few times, but it just doesn't work for me. I like to participate in the chat, and between the stream, the chat, and the table, it's just too much for my little brain to handle. :)

I have just started to get back into the game after a looooong layoff,

When I restarted playing after a 35 year layoff, it took a full year at 3 hours per day to redevelop the mechanical skills that go with the thinking patterns you never quite loose.

Three hours 4 to 5 days a week
