How Much to Stretch Granito M?

Wow Didn't mean to start a firestorm.

Guess that's what makes horse racing. I have used Granito for decades and have never had a problem. I actually prefer it over Simonis for 2 reasons. It's a little faster IMO and its about $50+ cheaper. Granito was a sponsor of the USBA not long ago. Simonis nearly owns the 3C business although Granito is still used in World Comp.

Enough said on that I just like it. By the way we stretched it so tight its not even touching the slate. Plays great.

Be sure to ask what cloth is coming off. Simonis will be going on. Also Carom Cafe regularly changes their cloth. Also I heard of a room in Denver that sounds as meticulous with their tables as Carom Cafe. Also a Korean room. In addition to this you might PM Jim Shovak. He's the Secretary and Treasurer or the USBA.

Keep in mind we were doing the gluedown method

You guys are Gluing down Billiards Cloth:confused: that would never be acceptable for the USBA National Championships. The best Billiards Table Mechanic in the Country is a South Korean his name is Insue Park and he lives in California, he is the go to guy for 3-Cushion Tables. I have helped him cover tables for the Nationals and a World 3-Cushion event Glue is out of the question for Professional play, staples are the only way to get the cloth tight enough for 3-cushion.

Take Care

I've been off AZ for a while now, but just got a chance to get back on. I got an invitation to go to Korea to show the mechanic's over there how to glue the bed cloth down on their billiards tables in place of staples because of showing the mechanic's that were flown in to set up the Gabriel 10ft billiard table for the TV viewing finals. Believe me, I can change anyone's mind about gluing the bed cloth down as opposed to stapling it...as the 2 mechanics that stretched the cloth at the same time couldn't believe it either, staples would never held with that much pressure pulling the cloth, I turned down the offer to go to Korea:grin:

Stapling the bed cloth down on billiard tables has always been done that way, because there's never been a better way of installing the bed cloths. I can assure anyone that my gluing system will change anyone's minds about installing carom bed cloths, as it did at the carom cafe in NY. The problem is that it's not known in the billiards industry, as I've only promoted it in the pocket pool industry, but yes Craig I use to install the cloths on the billiards tables at the 211 club in Seattle for John when he owned it, and John was a world class billiards player, and one of the top 3 players in this country.

Glen

PS, I'll be up in Washington hopefully by this coming weekend Craig, will stop by and visit with you buddy, see ya soon:grin:

I know John Terink, was certainly a very very Good player, but you are generous with a the ranking you gave John third place in the country:grin: don't know when he was ranked third, but it was not in the last 13 years. He was a member of the Tacoma Elks Lodge, and he played in many of the Western US Tournaments there and at the Medford Oregon Elks Lodge.

Hope to see soon Glen:)

Way back in the years, back to the 70's:grin:

When it comes to stretching and stapling, I'll match up with anyone- But after trying the glue, there is no doubt that it is better once you get proficient enough with it to do it with confidence.
If you're knuckles ain't bleeding, it ain't tight yet- and I've never had so many bloody knuckles as when I started using the glue.
And, coming back down the road to start scraping it off, takes more effort than pulling staples. When you put this glue on, it STAYS on!
If it's going to still be attached that strongly a year later, then there is no way for the felt to have gone anywhere either.....
And you can play the bongos on my stretches, bounce quarters like a game of beer pong, so I know for a fact that this stuff holds up to the challenge.
Can I get it to play as well with staples yes. Is there a chance of striations in the cloth from splitting with staples- yes.
Does glue have the same potential? Yes, but generally only if you are using pullers to concentrate the stretched area and are king kong.lol

Enjoying the popcorn and all the comments, but I'm going to bed now!
