im sure he has spurts where he practices alot .
we all did at one time.
believe though none of the pros practice half as much as people think.
its just when they do hit balls i think its more quality than quantity.

Who practices the most amongst the pros? Just curious.

Wikipedia has Ga Young Kim practicing at 30 hours a week. If I remember correctly, in that interview on CCTV, Pan Xiaoting said that when she was young she practiced around 8 hours a day.

I remember when he was a kid, he carried himself with an air of confidence. He believed he was a professional before he was one. He'd joke with us, "outta my way, a professional is coming through." And even though it was a joke, he already believed that he was one.

Jeanett was like that, I played her in 93, Me her and her friend. She was dating Bobby Hunter at the time and was in Reno for Gradys 1P tourny. She told me "I'm gonna be a pro" She was determined, I cant over state her determination-she was ready. We played and hung out for about 4 hours, for a while It was just the 2 of us, I was a perfect gentalman because she was dating Bobby. I knew she was headed for greatness, I played much stronger than her at the time, I knew with her drive and Bobby helping she was going to play good, I wasnt so sure about being a pro. I played for about 18 more onths then retired from the "scene", I saw her on ESPN, I was happy for her. Shows what determination can do.

Get A Life

This is unbelievable!!! WTF is this guy doing? I didn't even notice it at first but saw the posts talking about giving him a bad rep. I think I'll do the same, first one ever. This is absolutely rediculous. GET A LIFE? WTF!!!

I have heard you have some good information to offer. Why do you make dumb ass mean posts like this when someone asks a question that has nothing whatsoever to do with you or your holy grail aiming system?

Do you have any idea how it makes you look?

amen to that.

by the way, that interview you did with svb is superlative.

I don't think many pros practice alot, and if some of them do I don't think it makes much of a difference. The year corey won the us open I believe the only thing he practiced was golf.

I think this is a good analogy- A person can eat perfect and work out every day, but if he doesn't have the great genetics that another person has, then he can't achieve what in a life time what some can in a short time.

I think practice is good for an amateur or someone who doesn't play often but pros are usually playing everyday and dont work so therefor they are in stroke more and dont need to practice as often, there are exceptions like Shane but he is the minority.

John Schmidt: Thanks for the enlightening comments. Your "quality vs quantity" comment fits well with something Shawn Putnam said a while back. He said that if he was having an off day, he would quit and go home.

By trying to play thru my bad times, I'm probably planting seeds of doubt that inhibit my ability to improve.

I don't think so mosconiac! I used to quit when playing bad in practice and I think it hurt me when I got into a slump in a tourney.....I had nothing to fall back on to get me back in stroke.

Now when I practice poorly, I go back to basics, and the routine I know works because I came up with a plan that works during practice. Theres nothing better then that moment you fix the issue and dead pop reappears! :)

I actually learned this from a golf coach.....you ever notice when the golf pros are hitting it badly you find them on the range after their round?....trying to play through a bad stretch.....basically what I try to do.

I've heard interviews with Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry where they've both made essentially the same comment.

When they were coming up in the game they practiced long hours (6-8 hours per day).

Colin

Snooker matches can turn into marathons. I watched one last year where a single frame took about 75 minutes.

LOL. Gotcha.

Tell your wife I said hello and it was nice to meet her in Vegas this year. I am sure I will see you guys somewhere on the road. Good luck with your move to a warmer climate.
