The biggest part of being consistent IMO is to quit sucking. Hope that helps......

Have you taken lessons? One of the many things I learned from SPF was the pre-shot checklist.

Also you can video tape yourself executing the same shot over and over again. Pay attention when you miss, especially if there are deviation from your pre-shot routine.

For me, its the decision to reset. When I'm down on the shot even if the picture angle is bad I try to adjust and end up steering my cue to make the shot, rather than get back up and re-adjust my stance.

(1) Keep your head down and follow through
(2) Try a pre shot routine. I.E. - stroke the bal 1,2,3 and hit 4.

Consistancy will come after you work out all three of your pre-shot routines. Find an SPF Instructor and get it put together.

You get out of pool what you put in it. Playing for an hour a day will not get your game steady, you have to practice alot to even think about being consistent. Run drills, play the ghost and practice by yourself. The more time you are at the table the more consistent you will get.

After 42 years, you should just give up!

For real though, its a mix of fundamentals and table time. The more table time you put in, the less fundamentally sound you have to be. The better your fundamentals, the less tabletime you have to put in to be consistent. But if you put in table time time and have good fundamentals, you will see results. I would guess its an issue with fundamentals and discipline.

As one person said, with the way you write... he honestly might be on to something. He's not saying your dumb, he's saying you're not trying. You're taking shortcuts to write things that you know how to spell.. you just don't. That sort of lazy behavior could translate into your pool game. Like taking easier shots for granted and not applying the same TLC that you would a hard shot. Something to think about at the very least.

First off, learn how to use proper English and stop twexting us like you are a 13 year-old girl. 4 is spelled 'for'. 'Any1' is actually 'anyone'.

I'll give you a clue: If you are as lazy about playing pool as you are about asking for help, that may just be your problem.

Jenifer and JEssica

Jenifer -I know getting information in today's society needs to be immediate due to social media, but I have noticed a lot more grammar and proofreading errors in all media facets.

Jessica -Jen, real human beings are giving you the information you need, don't hate if something is slightly incorrect every now and again.

Jenifer -Jessica, it isn't just every now and then, but this is the first time I have mentioned it. Our society is slowly starting to slack in publishing areas that is viewed by many individuals. It reflects us as a whole, and what is it teaching our children? With globalization our standards should be greater. I am not perfect with grammar, but that is also why I did not go into a profession where it is adamant. As I said, I am noticing this in all US media facets.

Jenifer - the reason why I said I am not in a profession where it is adamant.
Elizabeth, I agree. I do know there is human error, Ann just pointed that out when I made one above. Again, my writing does not go through a proofreader. Also, I have stopped reading CNN because of the multipe errors.

Why would you want to be consistent?
If you keep trying to hit the ball as good as it can be hit....
...you just might find that while you're failing miserably...
...that you're playing much better.

..and if you want to put a better 'spin' on your posts...
...try spell check English....:)

Everyone is so mean here. For two years, even after ten, I still strive for consistency. You have to put in constant time each week or each day and focus on sticking to a pre shot routine.

There's no f'n end to this progress crap. Hit a million balls (the HAMB method), practice every day, play with better players, ask lots of questions, read tons of books, watch tons of videos, put something on the line. Hope this helps.

Additionally to the good advice you've received (and even the mean advice is good)....

One of my teammates asked me about how to play more consistently. I asked him how much does he play? His answer was that he played once a week, at league and never practices.

Don't be that guy.

Freddie <~~~ must play constantly to be consistent

I understand where you're coming from, and judging by the way you type, you must be a young person in his teens. As teenagers, you and your buddies might go into the pool hall when your off from school and shoot like once a month. You see that you're pretty good at the game because you see that you can beat your friends in the game. Next thing you know, you're watching YouTube videos of Efren Reyes running the table and you want to be Efren Reyes. You say you want to be like Efren Reyes but the truth is you might go to the pool hall twice a month with friends and you might not have considered going to practice pool by yourself at the pool hall instead of Call of Duty/Gears of War/whatever you might play. I don't know how you are personally, but this is how I was.

Now I'm not able to do that, because I go to school in the day and then work in the afternoon until 6PM. I'd like to improve my game but it's hard when you get to the table only once every two weeks. Good players, especially professionals, put in A LOT of time at the table honing their skills.

This is coming from a student who is in his first year of college.
