I love pool, and cues and watch pool tournaments and such, but I have not been really addicted to playing pool until the last week or so. I am not really sure why, but I cannot stop thinking about pool. I used to play about once a week, now I want to play everyday!

I can't let this happen, I cannot be hooked on playing pool and hang out in a pool hall all day.

Please help.....

I was onced asked......Do you love it yet? When I replied yes. The fellow pool player said. I feel sorry for you. It will never end unless a wife and kids come along first.

This is why God invented cell phone and wireless internet. You gotta multi-task while your opponent is running 13 racks on you :D

I love it too and am addicted. My old friend and i were talking awhile back and i told him my girlfriend of 4 years who was a knockout 10 was complaining about my pool and poker playing all the time into the wee hours. He asked what would i do if i had to choose between pool and her,i took a minute and said well i will choose pool,i mean i can always find a new girlfriend.A few months later she was gone and i was still playing pool and now have a girlfriend who actually doesnt mind me playing.I mean how can a girl get mad when your around a bunch of guys in a poolhall,i mean i am not out at strip clubs or doing drugs,GIRLS SMIRLS!
There is no cure, the only remedy is death or have someone chop your arms off.:D

You made the right choice but for some people they choose this game over life itself and sadly most of them die alone and broke.:(

Nipponblliards, I'm happy to inform you that your addiction is terminal.

There is no:
-patch
-12 step program
-cold turkey
-getting this monkey off your back
-possible way you can break this habit
-chewing gum that will help curb the cravings
-methadone type clinic for pool
-hypnotherapy
-lack of friendly people willing to help you get your fix so relax and give in to your urges.

My name is James and I'm proud to say I'm a pool addict.

And don't forget. "It's the real thing":p

The only help I can offer is play opposite handed, you'll miss so much, your enjoyment will diminish. We go about life by dreaming & visualizing about work, love, happiness, pools addiction is instant when we visualize and it happens before our eyes on a well lit table, picture this :D ? Like someone said "your one of us now". just another pea in the pod.:D

If there is a cure I would say it lies within alot of soul searching about the above quote.

P.S. I have a wife and son, and I am addicted to Pocket billiards too.

the only thing to do

you can do what I am doing. I have a pool table at home and it is for sale. Once that is gone, I can refocus on the things that are important.
I work from home and between the 'net and the table I am am easily distracted. A while back I even deleted all my pool links. I need a 12 step process to get off this damn AZ.

pool is definitely addicting. I have enjoyed playing but for me it needs to take a few steps back in priority.

I know how you feel, because I've been through that exact line at that excact setting. Enjoy the fact that you like pool, the equiptment that is involved in it, and watching the greats on TV. When it involves playing pool, don't make it too much of a habit as to play it every single time it takes (as if there is no tommorow). Prioritize about what is important the most: like education, work, or family (if you do have one). If you play pool perhaps once a week and forget about pool for the rest, you'll play even that much great because of the anticipation of wanting more. But remember: do the most important first and then settle with billiards as a reward. Helps you mentally too.
