I just bought an amazing Bill McDaniel's Cue that I really want to take care of and preserve. What's the best way to clean your cue after you play?
Thanks

dry terry cloth towel for butt & wrap.

I use the same towel to wipe down the shafts after playing.

But to really clean the shafts, i have not found ANYTHING that works better than the Mr. Clean magic erasers. They work better than anything else i've tried period.

After cleaning the shafts with the magic eraser, i'll clean it again with a hot steamy terry cloth...(slightly dampen & put in microwave for 30sec)

then just burnish the shaft with a dry paper towel.

done.

JMHO..wash your hands in cold water before playing pool, prepare your tip properly, don't try to "call the turkeys" when you apply chalk...

then cleaning your shaft will be a thing of the past.......:)

After use dampen a cloth with denatured alcohol.. very little water content, and wipe down the ferrule and shaft. Then burnish with leather. No damage due to water. No loss of wood due to abrasives.

Magic Eraser is the best for ground in dirt but it leaves the shaft in need of a little sanding... not much but just a little. No need to use this on a new shaft but if your shaft is dirty now just dampen the Magic Eraser with alcohol and clean the shaft. You'll be amazed! Then sand very lightly with 600 grit and again with 1000 or 1500 and then burnish w/leather. I'm not an expert but I think an expert will tell you the same.

Just clean w/the alcohol and burnish w/leather after every use!

Congratulations on the quality cue acquisition.

I wipe shaft down with 90 percent alcohol about once a month, then I burnish the shaft and whipe cue down with a terry cloth

91 percent alcohol and a mizerak cue whiz !

I wipe down my stick with 91 percent alcohol and burnish with a Steve Mizerak Que Whiz briefly everytime after a session of play. It is a 1 minute
process. My cue stays very clean and smooth as glass. Try it , you,ll like
it !!!

I tried to put my shaft in the microwave for 30 seconds but I broke it trying to close the door. :(

Wow

I was just thinking about the band Fishbone the other day! They were playing one of their songs on the radio for a flashback retro show and I was feeling old. I think I had their first album.. U-G-L-Y and you ain't got not alibi. Great band!

Anyway, I too have a McDaniel that I love and take care of. Everyone's suggestions for cleaning are very good. I use a damp clean towel and make sure I dry it afterwards. When it needs a serious cleaning I use Qclean but I heard Magic Eraser works great too. But I HIGHLY recommend washing your hands often when you're playing. Not only does it help to keep your cue clean its like refreshing your body for the games ahead.

Post up some pics in the gallery so we can check out the new cue!!

I was told to wipe it down with old fashion lighter fluid, seems to do the job also.

Yep... I used lighter fluid for quite a while and it works great. Stopped smoking, pitched the ole Zippo and switched to alcohol... for cue cleaning I mean!

I use

"Orange" (Kroger product), made from oranges on a paper towel, then dry it with a clean paper towel.
I, then, do the same with "Pledge".
I usually do this about once a week (before a weekly or special tournament).

And burnish inbetween with leather burnisher (from Jack Justis).
