If you take her with you to see the cues and you go about it that way and she doesn't freak out, then I think that would still be honest enough to keep you out of trouble. But, it's the honesty of her knowing you are buying the cue that makes it okay. You are offering her the opportunity to let you know that you may be without lights and heat for the first 3 months you are enjoying the new cue, or that there is a little one on the way and you'll need every penny you can get and would just have to sell the cue to buy diapers and formula and stuff.
Of course, if you don't tell her you're spending that kind of money on a cue, she shouldn't have to explain what she did with all the money when she took it out of the account to leave with her, either.
