Hit the cue ball with extreme left or right english, but do not compensate for squirt. And see if you make the object ball straight in....this should be done with a 9" or 8" table... not a barbox, since lighter balls tend to deflect a little more than heavier ones.
If it you make the shot without compensating then you have a low deflection shaft. I seem to alway make this shot 8 out of 10 with my Z2 shaft...
please let me know how you did, I have been thinking of doing the same to my OB1...

a piece of carbon paper is inserted between two pieces of note book paper and bent around the foot rail cushion. A line is drawn for a target and that cb is placed on the head string. The cb is shot at the target line and the amount it squirts is recorded on the paper under the carbon paper.
The location of the pivot point that people get for the "low" squirt cues, for instance, is all over the place. And many of the testers are techically savy.Patrick Johnson said:Why?

I know you're pretty meticulous with the tests you've performed. If you've measured the pivot point for a low squirt shaft, or any for that matter, as I'm sure you have, Dr. Dave Alciatore over on the Billiards Digest forum would be interested in your results, I'm sure. He's been asking for people to report them.

For instance, with the two shafts I reported on a few minutes ago here (custom low-squirt shaft and off-the-shelf Joss shaft), with a 1/3-inch tip offset and a 3-foot shot, you'd make the shot by aiming about 1/2 inch off with the low-squirt shaft vs. about 1-1/3 inch off with the Joss (with swerve minimized).Tom In Cincy said:I agree Mike,

All the players and their cues (hundreds of different cues) were able to end up compensating to be able to hit the middle of these two balls.
The players with the Predators still had to compensate.

I propose the shot I use to demonstrate different squirt in different cues to students: Freeze an object ball to the middle of the foot rail. Put the cue ball on the head spot. Using maximum side, land the cue ball on the cushion next to the ball and spin into it to pocket it.JimS said:...
