How will Efren React ?

Efren is owed half a million dollars ! that is big money

But Efren has already collected and cashed some big checks from the IPT

Even if he doesn't get his half a million, he is still substantially better off than if the IPT never existed.

Will he see it like that ? or will he pissed about his half a million ?

Is there a Philipino Mafia that Efren can call upon ?

If Efren is personally not pissed (and I sure as hell would be), you can bet there are a lot of others in his "extended family" who will be.

$500,000 buys a lot of chicken feet (even after taxes).

I'll give very long odds that KT and/or Deno will not be attending the WPC in Manila if payment has not been made.

I was doing some study on this a little while a back when this was starting to take place. There is what you could call a Filipino Mafia. There are gangs who operate in the US like the Vargas Gang and Ramirez gang. I think there is a segment that is in Chicago. I think if none of the Filipino players get paid, you could make a line on KT, Deno or both possibly being targeted. I would not want to be KT or Deno if they don't pay off a least the Filipinos.

Efren and Busta are managed by Butch Puyat I believe. One of the most influential men in Asia. Almost certainly an acquaintance, if not friend of Dr. Ho.

So how all that could possibly unravel I don't know, but it could make for a good book.

He will smile and say he got lucky to win the tournament and unlucky that Kevin Trudeau was backing it. At least Efren has the distinction of having won the largest prize money on offer - we all know it was a real win because all of the players thought the money was good. Now, Efren has the the distinction of being owed the most money!

Knowing some of the Chicago boys that make it to Derby City each year Trudeau ought to hope that none of them buy up any of the IPT debts. I wouldn't want to be Trudeau and owing them. His comments comparing the WPA to the "pool mafia" may come back to haunt him. These folks don't go to court to collect what's owed to them.

Correction: Efren has the "dubious" distinction of having won the largest prize
money on paper. And his win will have an asterisk (*) saying, " As of today,
January 2020, he is still waiting to get paid!"

First, there is no chance of the Philippines players getting paid while others do not. Second, if it ever came to the point that mobsters played enforcer when it comes to debts to the players arising from pool events, it would be one of the darkest days in this sport's history.

That would be Aristeo "Putch" Puyat, my friend.

IF and only IF Efren and company decide to start something, they will more likely get to Deno first, KT is pretty elusive.

Having said that, I hope Deno doesn't have a wife/kids.

Nothing will happen.

Just a lot of talk.

Just like the missing $17,000.

This has stopped being funny, you and I both live in Florida and know how it works. This took place just a few weeks ago.

No one would care about collecting money and they would not have to be connected to the players. Those players are national heroes and all it would take is a countryman to take revenge. The papers in the Philippines are already stirring it up if you have read any of what they are saying. If it go as far as the IPT actually stiffing everybody and thumbing their noses, forget about it. The Philippine papers will turn KT into a national enemy.

The people who were killed in the recent story I linked may not be in the drug business at all, just related to a drug dealer it seems at this point. The killings may have been retribution or a message. KT and Deno are in fact in real danger if they don't pay. Don't be stupid Jake

Ask what happened to Boy Bukoy.

Efren/Reactionary

Whoa, whoa!

Seems some might be getting a little dramatic here. In doing so it seems to me that some might be discrediting Efren.

Efren is hardly reactionary and has far more class than a Deno or Kt could ever buy. Efren as it is well know gives most of his money away to family and countrymen. He doesn't seem motivated by the almighty dollar. Extremely competitive yes, but hardly greedy. This man loves people and it just seems impossible for him to put a price on a human life.

However, I wonder if he cnnsiders KT as a form of human life?

Efren would probably shrug it off. Any of us who have been on the road though know that a lot of the gambling and backing money comes from the seamier side of life. A lot of those folks make their money in such a way as to risk their freedom and their life quite often. If any of them are "owed" money by the IPT through their indirect backing of players I wouldn't be surprised to see some incident come out this.

I am hoping it doesn't come to that. People get pretty testy about money though, especially when it's a lot of money.

This ceased being funny about a week after Reno when the reports came in about the disappearance of the guaranteed prize fund.

If the IPT doesnt take out a loan to pay its people.

Using the fact that the IPT is just getting started as the excuse, not good.

I know several people will be very unhappy pro pool players, their families, and financiers.

In regards to Mike Sigel working closely with IPT he probably doesnt get any back office info, like who operates the shredder at the middle of the night.
