These days outside english to force the line. Center ball for me requires identifying the geometry including the contacts and exit tangent and aligning everything. Not a biggie but it can put the brakes on the pace if the last ball was on the end of a run. With outside english (or any other cinching method) you can point the swath of the ball through the pocket which is visually quicker for me than lining up the center lines. Also depends on the stakes.

great day son! it's pool not calculus. just get down and shoot the ball. 😃😃

Thinner versions where the cue ball reaches the other long rail come up all the time. The easiest thing to do is kill it on that rail with side. It's the same shot here with no threat of losing the ball but the outside becomes habitual.

Inside edge of tip/ferrule at CCB aimed at COB. Pivot cue with your backhand ever so slightly to the left with center tip of cue at CCB but now aimed slightly outside center of OB. Then stroke.

Or...

Center of tip/ferrule at CCB aimed directly to center of OB which would take it into the end rail if struck that way. However,
pivot to the left with backhand and right edge of tip/ferrule now at CCB and strike the shot.

Please don't tell me this doesn't or can't work. Get on the table and do it.

its basically a straight in shot. just shoot it anyway you want.
whats wrong with you people. needing to analyze how to shoot a straight in shot.
It isn't a straight in shot. CCB aimed at COB and tip at center takes it into the end rail, I don't care who shoots it.
What slight adjustment would you make for the mini cut back to the right?

A little above center for a rolling CB, just over pocket speed.

Can’t imagine why you’d add any side or low.

That way is skid city on this particular shot. Slight angle, slow speed, top. No way.

High outside and a rolling ball is ok. Or low outside. I'd never play this with pure top and a soft hit. I don't think any pro would either.

Don’t rush it.
When you’ve run seven or eight balls-it’s a not uncommon error to abandon your successful pre-shot routine and the rhythm/pace that you employed pocketing the first seven or eight balls.
Don’t get excited to finish the rack. Especially if the shot’s going to win you a tournament, or a long race.
Don’t rush either of the last one or two shots.
Don’t let the excitement of winning the game or a tourney affect your pace of play. I’ve seen plenty of players rush the money ball. I’ve seen guys take to long analyzing the game ball. Upping the pressure.
