how would ya hit it?

I tried the shot both ways just now. Made 5/5 with low outside. Made 4/5 with center top. I have not hit a ball in months and my pool table is full of crap that I pushed out of the way barely enough to shoot this shot. I say that because I feel the high center was actually the easier shot, even though I missed it once. I did not have anything close to a skid. The only thing I didn't like about the high center was it put the butt of my cue exactly over the scratching sharp edge of the GC corner casting, and I was sweating rubbing it the whole time. I think I convinced myself high center is a nice way to play this shot. Thanks for the motivation;)
Did you bank it yet?😉💪😃

I'd hit it warp speed, throw my cue on the table and ask "who's next"?!

Don't forget the most important part: "Who's next, bee-aitches?!" Make them dig for those dollars in a hurry!

I gave it a little thought and I'd hit high enough the cue ball was rolling at contact if I thought about it. Truth is most the time I don't think. That can be whacked in the hole so many different ways that this is what I usually do. Whatever I feel like at the moment. Only thing for sure, I am not going to hit it very soft or above medium speed. Last ball, I probably one stroke and poke it. Not saying that is the best option ...

I set this shot up, taking my time to place the balls as close to exactly where they are in the OP as possible. I shot it ONE time. I didn't feel the need to do it more than once. AS soon as I got down on the shot I almost shook my head at how simple it looked. A couple of practice strokes center ball, I pulled the trigger about a speed I would describe as just above medium. Nailed it perfectly. Cue ball went to the opposite long rail (stopping just short) at the first diamond to the right of the side pocket.

I still do not understand why some feel the need for any sidespin or high/low. It just isn't necessary. My wife is a SL4 in APA and she could probably make this shot at a fairly high percentage.

Let's get a tougher shot next time, people!

Low left med/soft stroke. I rarely use center because it’s easier to purposely use side spin than to accidentally hit off center.
This never made sense to me. Using a little side doesn't lock you in to using exactly the spin you anticipate. If you can't find/hit center ball accurately and consistently, you can't find/hit a little side (or however much you anticipate the effects of) accurately and consistently either.

If you're anticipating using a half tip of outside, for example, you run the risk of hitting with a full tip of outside or actual center ball. Both of which could cause a miss.

I know that a lot of people do this, so I assume there's merit to it. But it doesn't make sense to me.

I understand your confusion. I have a hard time lining anything up straight. That includes hitting center ball. I’m not worried about the tip moving unintentionally, I’m worried I’m not centered on the cue ball and putting side spin unintentionally.

I'm rolling it in. Any pace beyond a couple of feet of what it takes to get it there makes the pocket needlessly smaller. Any english simply opens the door to dealing with squirt and swerve.

Pros have the distinct advantage of playing on crisp new equipment. You cannot model your shot choices as they do unless you're also on similar equipment.

to me, it makes a difference whether it is the 1st shot or the seventh shot. Your thinking is different; your rhythm is different. If the OB throws due to not hitting dead center, you miss the shot. I want that OB spinning counter-clockwise, so a touch low & left on a soft-med stroke is preferred.

Low left , warp speed, draw whitey 3 rails to bottom rail in case I miss. What did I win?
You missed the object ball. And whitey scratched like it had eyes.

Freddie <~~~ shot the same shot, but accidentally banked it straight back… and still scratched
