The guy plays the ace ball too slow, it dies in front of the pocket, and I am left with this. How would you play it?
(1) My personal choice:
(2) My opponent's choice:
(3) A friend's choice:
(4) Another friend's choice:
(2) feels a bit dicey to me because it requires too much speed control to leave the cueball where it needs to be and get the right angle on the break ball. (3), a kick shot, seems a bit too close to the pocket's tip for comfort. (4) has a big potential for scratching and requires too much speed control to end up at the right place. As for my own choice (1), it presents the risk of hitting the break ball after the foot rail, but there's less uncertainty with the cueball/breakball angle.
