A friend noticed that I'm actually bending the shaft of my pool cue with my bridge
I'm sort of pulling it to the left when my thumb grabs my pointer finger I never noticed it before but now that someone mentioned it I can see it so is it possible to bridge to tight
Is it OK to bend a shaft just a little or am I gonna destroy the stick

My other questions is I got a few lessons last year and the instructor said to me I can hear it when your in stroke rock I can actually hear the pop of the cue when your playing Good it really pops he said all great player have that sound all the time especially on long draw shots well I'm think I'm playing pretty strong and I can't hear it lol I'm not trying
To be funny but I listen when great players play and I've never herd it maybe my ears aren't to good any way you guys ever hear it

The pop to me sounds like utter BS. All cues make a different sound so if you feel you're playing well don't worry about sounds.

As for the bridge. Don't worry about damaging the cue, worry about why the cue is bending. It is most certainly possible to bridge too tight and I believe you must be to cause the bending. I would also look at why the cue isn't going straight to cause the bending....fix that and you can stop worrying about bending the cue

When you are taking your warm-up strokes with your closed bridge, there should be a little friction between your skin and the shaft, but both need to be clean and dry. There should be no torque from your bridge hand so it sounds like your bridge is more or less totally broken. Or, as Pidge pointed out, your stance is so off that it is putting torque on your bridge.

I recommend that you try playing with nothing but a solid, open bridge for a week. If you cannot keep the stick on your open bridge while stroking, the problem is in your grip hand not your bridge hand.

Call me crazy, but (without the tip braced against something) I don't believe it's possible to bend any normal shaft at the bridge enough to see it.

Without video it's difficult to tell. I agree completely with Bob Jewett's assessment and recommended fix.

The shaft bending will not hurt the cue until you get to the breaking point. Wood is made to bend some. That's why they bend in the wind instead of breaking.

Often, you can see a large amount of bend on some peoples break shot. The bridge remaining still and on the table while they stand up and use extreme follow through. Mike Sigel is a great example of this.

That said, it depends on when your cue is bending on whether or not it is a problem. And, in what direction. It doesn't hurt the cue, but can hurt your stroke.

Yes.

Yes! If you were holding the cue tight enough with your bridge hand to bend it, the cue could not move at all through the bridge.

Is the shaft bending in a side ways direction or in the up or down direction?

Its always bending to the left I'm a right handed player and its only on the practice strokes kind of like I'm pulling it to the left with my finger also. Can you post a video on this forum

Is the shaft actually bending or is it just moving straight to the left?

You are crazy, and I agree with you, that doesn't make me crazy.
I don't think he is bending it I think he is twisting it, veering off course, screwdrivering it, call it what you will.

He must be using a twig with a tip on it. A 58 mm shaft made of Lignum Vitae may help, they are tough to bend.

This video I would bring to the upcoming instructors convention.

I'm not sure what "pop" indicates, but a lot of great players hit the ball softly--I personally don't usually hear a bang on the cue ball unless I'm playing with cheap equipment and a very hard cue tip...

I've read it over and over and I don't understand the first question, even after your last comment. Are you asking about two different things? One: the shaft bending. Two: Pulling to the left. When are you bending the shaft? On break shots only or on all shots?

As for that sound, yes, I can hear it. It's the sound of good stroke timing. I think it's easier to hear when you're standing away from the table, so you can't really hear yourself doing it.

No its 1 question I seem to bridge to tight I'm actually bending the shaft to the left of my target and I did destroy my predator shaft that way it completly warped now but the cue repair guy said he thinks it was already warped that's why I was pulling it to the left with my bridge hand... Its bending On mostly long shots with inside English not happening on break shots

I don't believe it's possible to do what you seem to be describing. Can you post a picture of it?

... . You can then torque the shaft with the loop, with the shaft resting against the edge of the hand, if you get what I mean. I tried this and it worked. It definetly takes effort, and does not feel natural, but again, it is possible.
Did the stick slide well in your bridge?
