I am a Producer for American Road Player, Let's Talk

Blinders ?? Maybe you should go back and read my post more slowly...I said nothing about anti american or anything else. Yes, you can say anything you want, but what I was pointing out is that you can't be upset when folks say what they want to, right ?

I`m not upset. I just point out when people go from discussing the topic, to attacking me as a person or when someone derails the debate.
When the debate derails or turns to attacking someones person, that usually means that whomever does one of those two things don`t really have anything more worthwhile to say.

Dog the Bounty Hunter is not from the southern US. He's based in Hawaii IIRC.

You sure are passionate about what is on TV for someone who doesn't even own a TV...

Yes i know he lives in Hawaii, but he`s such an obvious example.
I don`t own a tv, in large part because of the lack of quality of programs.
I do however watch tv occasionally when visting friends, so while I`m not following any of these shows, I have seen an episode or part of one at one point.

the first thing i thought after watching, was: redneck.
(followed by: white trash.)
Scooter's little typical haircut reinforces that.

this, along with Honey Boo-Boo & Duck Dynasty (i've only seen ads & interviews for these shows), is not a show that i want my son exposed to. most of us from the South try to "äct like something" & have more couth.

the fact that Scooter is now being rewarded, after his history, is incredible to me. and regardless of the undisclosed balance sheet, i wouldn't support it.

haha ... ;)

So let me make sure I have this right, it's okay to attack as
long as the attack is done the way you want it to be done.

Who did I attack itsfroze?
I said attacking ideas is fine, attacking a person is considered an ad hominem attack and generally frowned upon.

No, I think Kim is saying it's okay to attack as long as it's a large group rather than an individual. That's what I read into it anywhere although I don't understand the logic behind it.

Edit: Typically attaching anyone to the phrase "white trash" is considered an attack. People use Redneck in different ways so it can be offensive to attach white trash to redneck.

I`m differentiating between persons and ideas
So if I say I think you have a poor argument, thats fine. If I say you are ugly, that`s considered an ad hominem attack.
I`m no longer disagreeing with your argument, I`m attacking a physical (in this example) or mental aspect of you.
I`m confident that you can tell the difference.
So it does not matter if I`m agreeing/disagreeing with a single individual or a thousand people.
You are free to attack my ideas, point out where you think I`m wrong or misrepresenting the facts and I`m at liberty to do the same to you.

true. i know & have known many rednecks, who are good people & i call friends. "white trash", has to be earned....and it's not indicative of the South.

I think we can agree to disagree JAM.
If you want pool to be a serious sport, the Euro approach is the way to go.
If you want to watch a trainwreck, you can go the Las Vegas route.

Pool does not get much exposure, so I would rather see that exposre be positive, than continuing to confirm pool as being a hobby for compulsive gamblers and (no offense) white thrash men from the southern areas of USA.

Explain to me how this is attacking an idea rather than attacking what you perceive to be a large group from the South. Adding "no offense" does not make it less of an attack. It's funny that around 99% of the time a sentance starting with "no offense" tends to be offensive to someone.

Directed to nobody in particular, but I can list several that fit this category today :D

Well sir if you cared to see the context and my other reply, you would see that my reply is not an attack on the south, Americans, white people or working class people.
It is a critisism of the cynical way the tv channels, choose to portray a segment of the American population, by giving air time to poeple who have very little to contribute to society in any way.
Do you think a show like Hardcore Pawn is a positive show or what about Duck Dynasty? A bunch of right wing, fundamentalist religious, who think the biggest issue facing America today is gay marriage...

I would daresay that a public forum is anywhere for that accusation. I can absolutely say with one hundred percent guarantee that nobody I personally know would get hustled for that amount and still be waiting for payment today.

Well guess what we are stilled owed

Those who I refrain from ever replying to, well, it's for a reason. I can't say anything nice and do not care for their forum personality. They might be great people in person, but on the forum, I just don't care to engage in a back-and-forth.

Kim, on the other hand, I think it's a language barrier that might have entered into the fray of this thread. My father was in World War II and spoke a little French. He and his buddies were in a French restaurant and nobody could speak French except my father. He tried to order soup, which was ox tail soup. It came out as ox penis soup. The entire restaurant erupted in laughter.

Yes, I can laugh *with* members and not *at* members.

Oh, and this *is* directed at you, unlike your silly cartoon. I'm responding to you, FWIW. :)

Providing comic relief and serving as an example of what not to do are both contributions to society. Everything has its place in this world if you're open minded enough.

What network is this reality tv show on?

From what I understand, reading the article on AzBilliards Main Page, the reality series will be on the Internet at this time, not TV.

One goal of having it on the Internet is to build a fan base. If this is effective, it is hoped that a cable TV might be interested in broadcasting future episodes. :)

Here is the article, if you would like to read more: http://www.azbilliards.com/news/stories/11663-introducing-american-hustlers-and-their-cast/

My cartoon was definitely meant to be silly, just like some of the bickering responses in this thread as well as other threads here recently. The cartoon is definitely not toward one person in general, as I was not singling anyone out. It normally takes 2 to tango (or something like that) :). I prefer to laugh with members vs at them for sure. Sometimes a member here and there can't help it though, and I get a chuckle about it. No harm, no foul, carry on AZ!
