I am looking for ideals on what wrap to use

Project1.jpgHear is my cue that I'm getting built and the picture is old my builder didn't have redwood burl so we are using Thuya Burl in its place and I think it will still look awesome. My question is on the wrap I'm not sure if I should use a brown leather wrap black leather wrap or if there is something exotic out there that would look good I'm open to opinions I would love to hear some input Thanks Jacob
 
You can get leather and lizzard in almost any colour you choose.

Personally I`m not big on wrapped cues, but my favourite is stingray hide, feels very nice and It`s more "grippy" than leather or lizzard.
You can buy stingray hide cheap from Thailand, $30-100 for a full hide.

Nice design and wood combination.

If it were mine I'd use Thuya Burl in the handle section (plus another ring between the handle and forearm), but I'm a wrapless kind of guy.

The advantage of using black leather is that you know it will match the ebony. You can use a brown leather if it matches the Thuya Burl, but IMHO you don't want to introduce a different brown color. Ostrich might have the same appearance as the Thuya Burl due to its pattern.

Black ostrich might be the ticket since the black compliments the ebony and the ostrich pattern compliments the Thuya pattern.

Brown, tan or black leather. You can find a shade that compliments the burl best, and that feels good. I would keep it simple... No need for Venezuelan beaver pelt, or other random exotics.
 
I think with a mostly black cue, you'll want the beautiful burl wood to stand out. A brown wrap would take away from the burl imo, so I would go with something darker probably black. .
 
Lots of wrap choices at www.superiorcues.com. You cant go wrong with black but if you can get in the colorway of the redwood burl you're using, it would look awesome, IMO. Best of luck. Martin
 
Stacked leather is the only way to go IMHO I won't play with a cue that doesn't have it

I think so far I like the look of the bison leather how dose it feel compared to ringtail lizard that's what one of my cues has and I don't like it all that much
 
Today is the day my cue maker just ask me what wrap I want or could he pick he thinks a brown leather would look good with the thuya burl what are your thoughts

You def should give paracord some serious consideration. Its super tough and extremely versatile ( it is what's used on parachutes ). I dont know your color combination on your cue but paracord comes in a plethora of colors. As I mentioned above, if you find yourself stranded deep in the wilderness there's probably 100 uses for it, just rip it right off and your good to go!

PS - paracord comes in various break strengths so first determine what your max break speed is and you can choose accordingly. Hope this helps!

Your cue has a lot of work in inlays.

THAT IS THE FOCAL POINT OF YOUR CUE.

I recommend a simple black linen or smooth black leather WITH NO PATTERN!

If you have too much it will take away from focal point and make the cue look gawdy, which is what is done WAY TOO OFTEN, on cues that owners design. They want to add too much of EVERYTHING.

Classy cues are simple, and look "crisp" and not gawdy, in the least.

I got my violin brown elephant ear wrap from him and it fit my Brazilian Rosewood -R- perfectly...Redwood Burl might look great with that, cognac or burgundy...depends on how dark the Burl is.
