Like I said, I didn't want to have to name names, but when Brian Gregg approached me about letting Jeanette buy half herself, i said something to the effect of "now, Brian?" or "the calcutta ended 6 hrs ago, brian." He replied, " It's not like that, she's been looking for you" That was when I walked away without saying yes, or no. The fact that she told Brian that she'd been looking for me was preposterous. She had gotten on the mic a couple times, and never asked to speak to me. John Wayne's is small enough to find me if she wanted to. If i see her walking around looking like she can't find something, i'm gonna say "hey JL, looking for me?" And BTW, I also played in the tournament, so I was also busy.

I'm confused as to when Jeanette talked to Brian, also when she talked to him did she say she definitely wanted half or simply that she needed to talk to you?

Also, since at some point, after you talked to Brian(not sure what point that was), you knew that she was expressing an interest in getting half. Why did you not want to get this resolved at that point?

I'm thinking that Brian should have helped resolve this also. It seems that he didn't take a clear stance. The whole situation is unfortunate.

I was being a little silly but quite honestly something seems to be missing

LOL...Yes. Seriously though, I never called her any names or made any threatening comments. I simply stated things that i have stated here, and when asked " are you telling me i cant have half?" I replied, No. She turned away and unscrewed her stick, which by all means is her right.

I was being a little silly but something does seem to be missing here. It could be simply the hectic activities of Jeanette and the TD. I am wondering how big of a gap there was between when Jeanette told the TD she wanted half and when Brian found you the first time.

That is a question for you, did Brian tell you at any time before you were called on the PA that Jeanette wanted to buy half? It has been reported that he had caught up with you before then and told you that she wanted to buy and you were agreeable. Is that true and about when did that happen?(I mean in terms of how many rounds of the tournament had been played)

I'm a little confused too about the brackets. An A-B-C tournament around here is handicapped and they all play in one bracket or normally a winners and losers bracket. You seemed to indicate that there was in essence a separate tournament going on for the A and B players.

I don't mean for this to be an inquisition but after hundreds of posts of "he said, she said" it is very nice to be able to ask a few questions of someone with firsthand knowledge. It has been a slow few days otherwise and I have to admit I have read most of the threads and remain feeling that there has to be some large gaps in what I know. You don't seem like a bad guy. On the other hand Jeanette started off in pool pretty rough and is a very seasoned veteran now. I'd say she has pretty much seen it all. I think most of us are still scratching our heads trying to figure out why she forfeited. The lady has been known to play for days in incredible pain, she is no quitter, . . . normally. What we are reading doesn't quite make sense.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and hopefully answer. Although you may feel some were attacking you I think the majority of posters defended you which is pretty amazing when it is a stranger and Jeanette Lee involved.

Willie was the only one i felt like was using unnecessary language, everybody else is inclined to their own opinions. And yes, i do appreciate those who have had my back. thank you.

there were 14 AB players and i believe there were 45 c players. No c player played an a or b player until the very end. Jeanette only needed to play what 4 or 5 matches to win?

Calcutta was over round 2pm. Brian approached me the first time around 8pm. and then she approached me through Brian around 10pm.

I am done for the nite guys...maybe post more tomorrow, or sunday most likely.

During this whole train wreck of an ordeal the only thing that I just didn't get was JL unscrewing her cue and forfeiting out. It screams of being a spoiled pool diva who just quits when things don't go her way.

If this was important enough to quit a tournament then it was important enough for her to find him and pay up before the tournament started.

Thanks!

Thanks, I do appreciate your replies.

JL - wrong to not buy half right way or at least have a clear understanding that she was in for her half.

Yeah, that right there is all on Jeanette Lee.

She tried something far beyond reasonable or fair expecting to get her way because of who she is, you stood your ground on what is fair and right, she took it as an afront not to be afforded certain rights beyond the mere common pool player masses and took the most classless way out she could.

It was weak. If this story was posted about Joe Nobody instead of Jeanette Lee, with this many witnesses and stories that all say the same thing, 0% of the people posting would be defending ole Joe.

I agree
I can see her possibly being a little miffed as in her mind she may have been meaning to find him for the whole tournament even if he didn't know that (I am delving into a woman's mind....please help me), but that still doesn't excuse her quitting just to spite him.

I have had diva experiences with athletes before. I remember being a chef for a restaurant years ago in NC. We were on a long long wait all night long and a certain NASCAR driver came in after the Coca Cola 500. A waitress said that he was here and demanded to be seated now. Me just being a new transplant to NC didn't know who he was and they explained. I then told her I didn't care who the hell he was and he was gonna wait just like everyone else.

Pool class??

I have always watched JL play and felt like she was good for the game.

But....Now, I have changed my mind. Even if JL had intentions of buying half from the start. It's her responsibility to find the buyer and buy half very soon after the auction is over.

JL unscrewing in a middle of tourney to punish the person who person who bought her in the auction shows poor class. It only enforces why pool has not reached the level of other games. I believe in any other type of game, the player would be suspended from their association for quiting during the middle of a tourny for such a small reason. Would they not be?

It all falls back to that pool hall mentality. Who ever leaves with the money is the winner.....which is awful. I've heard these lines all the time in the pool room
"He would double steer me, So i will double steer him!"
"I told him that I got the 7 from player x but it really was the last 2"
"I told him player x beat me even..... but it really was only 1 time"
"Player x and I are really chopping up everything"

Anyway you rationalize it to yourself. It's not telling the truth and compromising the game you are playing.....and game of pool itself.

IMO, if you come to play in a pool tourney..... you come to play your best and try to win the pool tourney. The auction is just icing on the cake.

I,too, would have told JL "NO". But would have told her I would give her 10% for free.

If your a player and you want to buy half yourself in the Calcutta, you do it before you even hit a damn ball.

You don't get someone else to look around for the person that baught you in the calcutta. You don't wait 3 matchs later. You buy half yourself before the tournament starts PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...If you don't tough luck, it's your fault.

Yes, i am the guy who bought JL last weekend. Sorry I took so long to finally post but my acct was not activated for like 24 hrs. Plus, i actually have a life outside of posting responses to a subject that i didn't even start on this website to begin with. People wanted to hear my side of the story, and i relayed it to the best of my ability through my friend clolson (thanks btw CO2.) I definitely wanted nothing to do with all the drama that has ensued from these events. Anybody who knows me can tell you that I would not have all this happening if it was not the truth. I was not going to mention names and all of that, especially seeing the new TD thread, but I feel obligated to defend myself. The fact that I feel disrespected by an anonymous Jeanette Lee fanboy, makes me feel, as Williebetmore already pointed out, like a loser.

In my original posting through clolson you may notice I never called Jeanette a single name, not even unprofessional or classless. Williebetmore, however, chooses to take the low road and call me a psychotic stalker with rude disturbing behavior! WOW! The fact that you would say these types of things without knowing any of the facts firsthand is truly disgusting. Waiting by the computer so that you can post a reply everytime someone posts a new comment...i'm surprised you get that good of an internet connection that far up Jeanette's butt. I think its pretty obvious that i havent been trying to run her name in the dirt, but apparently, if one stands up for themselves around Jeanette, her "friends" will. Nice.

Now I would like to clear up a couple of things that people still aren't quite sure of. In mine and Jeanette's initial interaction, she did say she probably will buy 1/2 but she would let me know. There was still probably 30 mins to go in the calcutta so i figured she'd let me know within a reasonable time. When Willie says "it was only a few matches later, not the finals" when she approached me again, there was only 14 players in the A-B bracket total, a few matches later is the end of the tournament. I guess I didn't realize how much time she needed. She also was in no way a lock to win the tourney, maybe if she sees she has to play BG, Everett Snow, or Steve Oaks, she doesn't want half...JMO. Nobody lets Joe Shmoe look at the brackets, figure up the pot, and calculate his odds, then let's him have half right?

Like I said, I didn't want to have to name names, but when Brian Gregg approached me about letting Jeanette buy half herself, i said something to the effect of "now, Brian?" or "the calcutta ended 6 hrs ago, brian." He replied, " It's not like that, she's been looking for you" That was when I walked away without saying yes, or no. The fact that she told Brian that she'd been looking for me was preposterous. If i see her walking around looking like she can't find something, i'm gonna say "hey JL, looking for me?" And BTW, I also played in the tournament, so I was also busy.

As far as Jeanette's character goes, I am aware that she does a lot of great things for the sport, which I commend her for. I've talked to several people who have seen her put moves on people in the past. I recently learned of something that happened at the Derby earlier this year where she hit an 8ball first, while attempting to hit the 3 ball, and swore it was a good hit. She was gambling with a gentleman whom i dont recall his name, but they were playing 11,000-13,000 dollar nineball.

I'll say again, that I didn't want to have to post all of this nonsense, but I will not let my character come into question for doing the absolute right thing.

Dear Williebetmore,
I am a nobody on this website or in the pool community itself, but if you really live in Indy, then I know somebody who knows who you are. My name is Matt Thompson and if you have an iota of an ounce of heart, you will put your name on here. I just wanna know the name of the man calling me such ridiculous things. That's all.

Thanks Azbilliards, and i want to apologize for again kicking a dead horse...even though Mr. Ed ain't got sh*t on this horse!

P.S. I wanna say sorry to Jack and Brian for creating a new thread after you guys have already made one, but I felt like I needed to address these things.
WHAT SAY YE CAPTION K?????

I believe that if Jeanette Lee told you that she "might" want to buy half of herself, it was just as much your responsibility as it was hers to get that squared away ASAP. When Brian Gregg approached you and told you JL had been looking for you and wanted to buy half of herself, your mistake was walking away and not saying anything. JL's mistake was not finding you soon enough.

Another thing which seemed to be more in question, was JL quitting when you refused to let her buy half. You stated that you simply said "No." Is that all you really said, or were you rude enough to her to make her unscrew? If you politely said "No" and she unscrewed to spite you, then IMO its her bad for making a big deal about it. But if you offended her, consider it your fault.

I disagree. I think JL should of said to herself before she started her first match "Hey maybe I should go buy half myself first, before I start my match". Because once she hits that first ball in that first match, in my opinion she doesn't want to buy half her self. Deal is done!

It's not his job to find her. It's her job to find him. He baught her in the calcutta it's his $140.00 dollars not. Not 1 cent is hers until she gives him some cash. He doesn't even have to agree to split half.

This is why they make 31 flavors of ice cream, people are different and like different things. They both said they could have done things to make it better so they both shared blame, why do people need to be definitively 100% right/wrong when the situation calls that it isn't black and white like that?

They both screwed up, they know it and now we know it. What do you expect either of them to do, bow from the ankles? Sheesh.

It should have been dealt with at "probably"....

I'm "probably" going to buy my half???? WTF Either you are in or you are out. It can't be that $70.00 was such a huge bankroll that she couldn't swing it. What was the total value of the calcutta?

I'll never know what was said or what happened, but personally I wouldn't have taken probably for an answer. I would have pressed her at theat point and asked her if I had made a mistake buying her in the first place if her heart wasn't in the tourney. Maybe she would have broken the cue down then and we all would be spared the drama.

I'm chalking the whole thing up to Lady Problems. The whole situation is too weird to be anything but hormones. We're talking $70 bucks and an international pool star who is doing more than just pool related things over at ESPN...

If the tourney was held a week earlier or later, we wouldn't be hearing about it, because it wouldn't have happened...

Flame on

does anyone even care anymore? i was hoping that all these threads would disappear in the "upgrade".

Because of who she is and based on the supposed fact that she was going to be "busy" throughout the day..... she could have easily gave her half of the money to the TD (Brian?) and had him give it to the buyer as soon as he saw him......granted this is not the "norm" for buying half, but then again we are not talking about the normal pool player.

As professional a person JL appears to be in public........It appears she tried to take advantage of this situation and when it did not work out in her favor she turned into just an ordinary ameature and quit.

LOL.....Indy sure has some Drama....
