I buried my cue today..in coffee grounds. Hope that wasn't someones idea of a joke..hopefully it will get the cig stink out. Looks like its going on the auction block.

This reminds me of a good joke concerning smell.

A guy and his wife are driving down the road when they come across a road killed skunk with a baby skunk sitting near by. The woman says " pull over" so he does. She gets out picks up the baby skunk and tells her husband to go straight to the vet. As he's driving the little skunks shivering and she says "look how cold he is" and the husband replies "put him in-between your legs"......she says "what about the smell" and he husband replies......."hold his nose"

Honestly I never heard of a cue being returned because it smelled like smoke but I give you a lot of credit for trying. Regular or decaff?:D

Coffee is great at removing smells. I worked for Starbucks' corporate office and people would bring their goods into work, wrapped in coffee bags to hide the smell.

I'm not saying, i'm just saying

ha. thats funny and i can relate. about a year ago, i purchased an expensive fitted table cover. anyway, when i took it out of the box, it smelled like wicked BO. stunk up my entire basement. i spent at least two weeks wiping it down with leather cleaner, sprayed fabreze on it, wiped it down with lemon juice, even draped it over my truck bed outside in an attempt to air it out. nothing worked, it still smelled like a bag of jock straps. i ended up just throwing it away. i feel your pain.

I know the feeling

I bought a real nice italian leather billfold last year and when I took it out of the fancy box it smelled so bad that it would run a buzzard off of a gut wagon. It took automotive brake cleaner and three or four days till my family could stand it in the house much less the car.--Leonard

Funny , haven't heard that one in awhile !! ..I wasn't going to mess around..expresso

might have been the previous owner

Might have been the previous owner, his sweat or body oil penetrating under the wrap.

I've read old books referring to people as nicotine soaked but assumed it was hyperbole. Then we had a draftsman come to work at the nuke. No smoking while working of course, no direct contact between smoke and the drawings. However after he worked on drawings they absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke, smelled like they had been in a room with heavy smoke for months. Opening a roll of drawings that had been worked on a handful of times after he had and several years later you still knew as soon as you picked up the roll that he had worked on them.

He worked at the plant for a few weeks and may be still remembered decades later when people open a roll of drawings, never saw anything like it. He could work on a drawing five minutes, paper or plastic, and the smell was apparently there forever.

I bought the cue from a broker, one owner .It was 98% new.
unfortunately the stench came from the only place to play here in the Keys.
I just got my new Mike Stacy wrap-less from TravD today in the post...sweeet! I think I'll leave the Skip buried for another day. If I need to re-wrap it before I put it on the market it will be for the last time.

It's the wrap, yes I have had it re-wrapped three times by Dennis Searing. I'm over it.

I'm sorry but I don't get this response. Are you saying you had it rewrapped 3 times and it didn't help, or after 3 times the problem is solved, and if so, why did it take 3 rewraps????? I'm just curious to know if the wood itself was holding the smell.

Because of the place I play the cue has been re-wrapped 3 times. New wrap , no smell. After a year or so I would have it done again.

I see now, thanks. Sounds like the room I play snooker in, they still smoke there, but it's the only snooker table anywhere near me. It's a weekly game every sunday night with my older brother, who is a very strong player, so it's worth it to me for the competition as well as the "family time" so to speak. I guess I never realized the smoke issue staying with my cue since my snooker cue (Mike Wooldridge "Black Shark") does not have a wrap. That said, my first task at home after playing is always a shower due to the smoke. The room I play pool in is non smoking.

Just to confirm that using coffee works . I wrapped the leather ( lizard ) with tin foil and coffee sealing the edges. It removed the cigarette smell.

Feibings makes a reptile cleaner and conditioner. I know it works great on my boots. It will definitely soften and condition the lizard if you ever find it to be drying out a tad. As far as removing the cig smell, I have no idea.

If doing linen, I think Febreeze would work well like was suggested.

Thanks didn't have any on hand but might have to get some for my case. At any rate I will still use the coffee.
