I personally would have went with blue or red duct tape to add a little color to the buttsleeve....... but to each his own...... :rolleyes:

The butt cap on the older Meuccis was flat faced and "glued" with the weight bolt to hold it on. In time, the glue brakes down, weight pin comes loose, and the cap spins. This guy drilled into the butt sleeve, inserted an oak dowel, wrapped it in duct tape, and then glued it on with rubber cement. In his defense, he's an old timer that loves this cue. It was willed to him when his friend passed away. I just refinished his friends Meucci and that friend talked him into having me repair his beloved cue. I just love the ingenuity of how different people repair their cues. You do what you have to do because the old man can shoot lights out.
 
That is a mess if i've ever seen one. It looks like a wood butcher got a hold to that cue.
