on the wts section i just posted a ballstar ballcleaner for 100 and it sold immediately.
so i figure there is people out there that want a ballcleaner for their home for 100 dollars.
hears what i did i built one and it works so good its a joke.
before i go on let me say the diamond cleaner is the best by far especially for commercial use. if you cannot afford one let me make this offer.
i will build one exactly like i made mine for 100 plus about 10 dollars shipping.
your probably thinking what does this idiot poolplayer know about making ball polishers, well i read on az billiards how to do it and mine turned out awesome.
so anyway if you want one pm me and i will put it together and send it right out .for the price there is nothing better and believe me im the king of wanting the balls to play clean.also it weighs about 6 pounds.,

Could be the start of something big. Does this handle 16 balls at once? Ive seen some smaller ones in homes.

Hey John! You may be able to get more $$ if you autograph it. :D

It was nice meeting you at the BCA Expo. Thanks for taking the time to check out the rack and talk some. Take care!

I'd also like to see some pics. Thanks!

I hope you do good with this John, your a smart guy. YOu have a good reputation and your right playing with new or clean balls is the only way to play pool, there is nothing worse than dirty balls, its as important as good cloth if not more important. Best of luck with your plan.

Damn....wish I had an extra 20K lying around !!!!!!

Oh ya, and that my wife wouldn't mind.......:D

ahhhhh.......nevermind!!

John, I hope you did not use that grinder from Harbor Freight. The first one I made worked fine. So I made two more built to closer tolerences and both burned out in less than five minutes. I gave up on the rotary. Next I tried the car buffer on top and it did not rotate the balls. I think that my next version would use something like a belt sander machine with a terry cloth belt.

I noticed on one of the more expensive machines that they had a replacement felt for the cleaner. This too appears to be useful if you can design a way to swap out the cloths easily. I found that placing Aramith cleaner on the balls leves a residue in the machine and that a polishing cloth would help.

My original machine is working fine. Seems the old grinder I had is a higher amp than the newer ones. Now I just hold a terry cloth rag on top of the balls after they are cleaned and that polishes them fine.

I wish you well on your new venture.

John , Good luck on your Ball Polisher venture.
I also built a homemade ball polisher and post a thread on the result. Have you seen the one Paul Frankel selling checkout

The Diamond ball polisher can do 2 sets of billiards balls at the same time as well...LOL...so the statement of the "ONLY" ball polisher that can do two sets of billiards balls is wrong, and it's still the only ball polisher in the world that rotates the balls as it spins them to insure a 100% polished surface, and it don't let any of the balls crash into each other, which means no collision marks on the balls what so ever. Diamond is coming out with a single platter home version ball polisher for home sales, which will still out perform ANY polisher on the market.

Glen

PS. And you don't have to buy a second polisher to do carom balls, the Diamond polisher does them all, pool, snooker, or carom....in the same machine!

Sounds good, but I heard that a few months ago, and I needed to get a ball polisher, and that home version is not being advertised on the site yet. The $700.00 advertised on their site for the commercial polisher = WAY too much for home use. :D

why is it a bad thing for the balls to bang into each other? Seems like they spend most of their life doing that anyways.

i'm still gonna support John S. because his $100 idea isnt competition to the Diamond(a commercial use only), I truely hope he has a plan that will work for his customers and his business.

One thing Glen is right abot is the collision marks on balls, they show up. He showed me how the Diamond polisher stops them from happpening, (I believe that enough of them in the wrong kind of ball cleaner will wear the balls down smaller after ALOT of use-this is my opinion only) With the Diamond there are zero. That machine is amazing but over kill for home use but so is a Lamborghini to go to 7-11 for a Slurpee. ;)

those marks are one of the reasons that stops them fro being shiny, and they play differently because there is more friction from collision marks, chalk, scratches etc, Shiny balls smooth balls play more predictiable because there is less friction. When you see gus in tournments with new cloth and new balls the balls slide int othe pockets alot easier, dirty, chalk covered balls, unbrushed dirty chalk covered well worn cloth tightens up the pockets alot. And those conditions can vary alot so it takes a while to get used to them to play your best. I will go out on a limb here and say that when John runs 400 innings he had clean balls and if not new cloth it was clean cloth. I like john he is a acquaitance of mine so we kinda know each other, but I dont know him well enough to know about his big innings. So John am I right? clean balls on those big days?

Also I will take this oppertunity say that I firmly believe that he will break the 526 official record. No my nose aint brown, I dont need a favor from him or anything, hell I'd like to help him out as I believe in him and I do what I can for pro's they have a tough life I'm friends with alot of them. I'm not a sucker but a nice guy that lends a hand to guys (not $$$) sometimes. I just have been looking for the right time to say I believe that he will be the man to do it, on a 9' table no 8' table with 5" pockets.
