I got offered a job as a tournament director for the bar that I frequent.

I created a new tournament format that I am hoping will be attractive.

I believe Gene really enjoyed these tournaments with chips. I hope you do well. With the house matching 100% of the pot you should draw a few people in.

I'm not attempting to dispute your claim, but there has been a "Chip pool" tournament going on in Bozeman MT for at least a decade or so. They do not handicap it though.

Been there done that, good luck it can be a thankless job.

If the house is just starting to have these tournament make sure to get everyone's phone number so you can text them a reminder. It also serves as an invitation
Good luck

i wouldnt bother with the auction on a weekly tourney...rest looks interesting though. Good Luck!

As a beginner, I like this format.

Most tournaments are luck of the draw. I've made it to just one spot out of the money in our local tournaments just because I didn't run into any A or AA players until that point as a freak coincidence. I've also lost my first match and then immediately lost the one on the losers side because I drew two really good players right away.

This format would also work really well in charity tournaments where you most players are playing for fun and this option might allow more people to play each other.

Good luck.

Word of advice: Just plan on running the tournament don't attempt playing in it also, that's a recipe for disaster, IMO

I like the ideal of these types of tournaments. Seems like if you had 20 players it could take a very long time to finish.

Well, 3 evenings a week is a good start. Maybe work it into more hrs.

I like the Chip Elimination Format. A person could have a lot of fun playing like that.

As Kim mentioned, try not to mess this one up. Good luck and have fun.

Interesting. How go you bracket this? Or do you keep pulling names out of who's left with chips?
