5 Time U.S. Open Champion and world famous pool player Earl Strickland has signed on to participate in The Action
Challenge 2. Earl will take on the winner of the first Action Challenge Match Shane Van Boening in a 10 Ball, race to
100, with a $10,000 entry fee. Winner Take All. Date and venue will be announced in the near future.

This was mentioned on the first day of the Action Challenge and then confirmed on the second.

I'd like to bet REAL HIGH Earl ain't puting up a dime. It would be a bad bet.
 
I hope they play this match AFTER the WPC.

As far as who's stakehorsing Earl, there are still quite a few folks who do believe in his capabilities, contrary to popular belief on this forum. :(

This should be a great match-up. I look forward to seeing it. :)

I'd love to see this with 9-ball as the game. No offense to either player, but I think you'd get to see some real offensive firepower if this match was 9-ball. I know Shane doesn't like the luck factor in 9-ball, but over a race to 100, I don't think luck would play much of a factor. Or, add the stipulation that 9-ball on the break is spotted.
 
Wasn't it Shane and Shanes family that Earl got into it with at the DCC or Open? Johnnyt

cannot wait to see this one. really taken a liking to SVB he's a really strong player, and could well develop into a great, but earl's my pool god so i hope he kicks shane's ass!

most of all though i hope it's a high quality match.

maybe 9ball would be more suitable perhaps to bring out the attacking side of their games, but i'm not really sure. either way, earl can certainly play ten ball.
 
I'm afraid this match can be extremely disappointing if Earl gets behind big early on. For example, if Earl gets behind 20-10, do you think he'll have the heart and mentality to give it his all the rest of the way, or would he just take his foot of the gas medal and lay up? We've all seen him lay up at one time or another. Either this match will be one of the most exciting matches ever witnessed, or an extremely HUGE disappointment. I really hope the former happens.
 
I have a hunch that Earl wants to/is going to find out if there is anymore gas in the tank. I think there is. If he stays on keel it could be a match for the books. Johnnyt
