I believe there is a forum rule that if you are the current US Open 9 Ball Champion then you can start any kind of thread you want :)

I think you may need to look up the Stockholm syndrome and see if it doesn't apply, there is no longer a need to keep kissing ass. By the way, you made out OK, some others didn't. But then one poster said she didn't really care at least they got a new kitchen out of it, I guess those that traveled from Europe and incurred considerable expense, screw them as long as you came out OK. Needless to say, pool players will never be organized, they are too busy looking out for number one.

I have to come back and add this
Did you ever see the movie Godfather two? Of course you did, do you remember the character Don Fanucci, he was the big guy in the flashback sequence who was the local bad guy who dressed all in white. There is a scene where he shakes down the Robert Denero character and his friends for doing business in his village.

Denero gives him some money and Don Fanucci walks out into the crowd. He walks through the crowd and he pins the money he just took from Denero to the religious statue that was being carried through the streets to the cheers of the crowd as he basks in their attention. KT gave money to some pool players but it was no huge act of benevolence, just money he embezzled from credit cards, siphoned from desperate people, lied for, and cheated for and now wants to create an the illusion he is some kind of legitimate businessman?

That is what I found so offensive with your post, your misguided admiration for a guy who is little more then a liar and thief. Don't allow yourself to be bought so cheaply, take his money and put it to good use but don't embarrass yourself with this boot licking.

Here you go again macguy! The guy has a right to his own opinion. I don't agree with him but it is his right. You do not need to follow him around and insult him like you did for posting for a stake horse in the Open. I thought you would have learned your lesson by now. Try keeping your foot away from your mouth, huh!

It would be nice if he exhibited at least a grain or empathy for his fellow players.

John..Congrats again on winning the Open. I agree with you that KT has given the sport of pool a boost by the payouts that have been paid. I just think that if the IPT is about to end, then KT should have enough respect for you guys, the sponsors, fans, etc. to just come right out and tell everyone the truth. But, leading people on from week to week and still trying to build it up with qualifiers when he knows its close to an end is just not the way to conduct business. IMO.

John,

You know how I feel about you, you're a friend first and a poolplayer second. Even though I missed out on staking you at the Open, I called you right away to say congrats. You WON the U.S. Open John! You ARE a U.S. Open Champion for life! Now you have a best selling DVD out to. Hey, where's that tape?

I predict bigger things for you in the future too. Just keep your head down and take dead aim. I remind you now of some of the conversations we had about the IPT. Like you, I hoped for the best for the sport. But the handwriting was on the wall, and I did not trust this man's "guarantees".
I said don't get your hopes up and be glad for whatever you win here. It may not last!

I still hope for a miracle, but am not counting on it. The past 50 days have told the real story of KT and the IPT. Regardless of what he says or does now (including paying some amount of money), do NOT trust this man to fulfill his promises. He will let you down again I'm afraid.

Yes, he threw a nice party or two, but it was more about his inflated ego than any love for the poolplayers. He had a plan to exploit you and the sport for his own personal gain and it didn't work out. Granted he did pay off for two (exactly two) of the promised eleven tournaments. I remember the early schedules for 2006 and 2007.

The way I look at it, is whatever you won is a bonus, a gift from a not so wealthy man, who wanted to look like a big shot. And he did for a minute.
Now go on with your life. Around the corner is the WPC and they will be looking at you, the REIGNING U.S. OPEN CHAMPION! Everyone will be gunning for you. You WON the last big tournament in Pool. If you somehow can find a way to win this one too, YOU will be the King Of The Hill, the MAN!

Fame and stardom are right around the corner. You can become part of the elite of Pool, the ones who get invited all over the world for the major competitions. The ones who actually make a living at Pool. Like Earl, Johnny, Thorsten, Efren, Ralf, Mika, Alex, Francisco etc. Welcome to the club John! Now go kick some ass.

I'll be there sweatin' it. It would be great to see an American win. And no one has a better chance than you right now. Jaybird

I enjoyed this post alot shows what a true CLASS ACT John Schmidt is. i am in no way connected to the ipt, or any of the players, other than a railbird watching the greatest players in the world show their skills. i still have alot of hope that things are gona be made right, how and when i have no idea. until the 8-ball drops the game isnt over.i make no excuses for anyone, but do continue to support the ipt and all its players as most also do. we all are a bit disappointed with the way things are going, or not going.if i end up eating crow after giving my opinion so be it, for sure wont be the first time. it in no way will ruin my life, but it will surely effect the players. im not supporting KT just the IPT AND ITS PLAYERS.

Kudos to John!

Way to back up the KT and the IPT.

There's still so much more to gain for the players, and Mr. Trudeau knows the path to get there. He can't be underestimated.

Envisioning & understanding the route to success is difficult enough, but no one knows what's going to happen along the way, not even Mr. Trudeau, but it's nice to see the players support him & the IPT.

It buys you a few more min of airtime ;)

I just want to echo Jay's post and add that some players certainly came out ahead but other people are out a lot of money. The guys from oversea's that had to go to Orlando but weren't invited to play... If any of those guys went out in the first round of Vegas, they're defintiely out of pocket. (all that out of pocket money for Orlando, only a couple of thousand for Vegas, & out all the expenses for Reno) Then there's the guys that poured a lot of money into the qualifiers because of the guarantee's that KT made. Don't know if you saw it or not but I made a post awhile back and figured out that CJ Wiley has spent somewhere around $10,000 to play in qualifiers.... because KT promised a lot of tournaments, a lot of money, and guaranteed a minimum of 2 yrs (or was it 3, I never can remember).

People are out a lot of money because of this man's promises and mis-management along with ego issues from KT on down has now jeopardized the entire dream for everyone from the tour card holders to the guys out thousands in qualifier money.

John, if you're one of the guys coming out ahead of the game then consider yourself very lucky. You could've been one of the qualifier guys or the oversea's guys and out more than you've won.

;)

I concur with Timberly.

Nice post John, I am sure it came from your heart.

I have watched you play a few times and even sat next to you at the bar at Planet 9-ball but didn't bother you. I think I got you to sign my program from the KOTH there. Now that was a nice touch that KT did for all the players. I wonder if any other tour put out a classy program like that.

Keep away from MacGuy and people like him, he is too negative. You don't need all those negative vibes. He gloats in pointing out faults in people. I sure would not have him anywhere near me. As bad as everyone says KT is I would prefer his company to MacGuy's.

Good luck to you John and perhaps I will see you in action at the Championships for the Florida Pro Tour.

John, you may catch some heat posting such a positive message on this forum. Just get used to it or like many other pro players don't visit as often or not at all. You posted a well meaning, positive and sincere post and I'm sure it will be met with all sorts of negative comments. While I haven't lost any money or time with the IPT, I can understand why some of the players are upset. Unfortunately, I think this is the type of situation where you have to hope for the best. If it doesn't work out so be it. If it does work out, then professional pool players get a chance to make decent money.

What is interesting is the minimum amount of negative talk that goes on with the women's tour. There are lots of negative things to talk about but they seldom are mentioned. That's a good thing. If everyone harps on the negative, it is going to be hard for the positive things to happen or keep happening.

I wish you and all of the IPT players good luck on this difficult journey.

The IPO might be a risky venture but the risk-takers will decide if it is worth pursuing.

hi

macguy mentioned i should have some empathy for my fellow players, well thats exactly why i reminded the ipt and kevin that were behind the ipt.it not only helps me if the ipt succeds but it helps my fellow players.i know im one of the lucky ones who are ahead but we will all come out winner if the ipt hangs around.i assumed someone as brilliant as macguy could have read between the lines in my post.he did not instead he took it as another chance to rip on me thanks again macguy

So now you are basing your life on a Hollywood work of fiction. What drivel.

I never bothered with watching that movie. I dealt with the real deals in Chicago. They are much more interesting than a movie ever can be.

As far as Stockholm Syndrome - that pertains to prisoners/hostages.

Surely you are not saying John is a prisoner or hostage of KT are you?
