I really hate to post this but here it is. After ordering a McDermott cue only to find out it was an import i canceled it and made a big to do about buying American made. So today i went to a local billiard store told them the price range i needed to be in and would they match internet prices? I picked out 3 cues in my price range and they met or were $10 higher. Good enough, so i tried out my first choice which was a Joss JSM20 . The shaft was not round and the taper was uneven and i remembered that the Joss web site said Dan Janes inspected every cue that went out the door. Well he must not have been in that day. So this kind of ticked me off. Yeah i know i'm a fussy old fart but so be it.So here comes the hard part. I then tried a Lucasi cue.The shaft was perfectly tapered and very clean. And it was perfectly round. The finish and workmanship was surprising good for an inexpensive production cue and the hit was very good. This is a Cocobolo cue and had a better balance and hit then the maple Lucasi cue i tried out a while back. (differant wood?)So I bought it for the same price as on the internet and just had to pay sales tax. While i did not buy American made at least i kept the money in my city and helped out a little by paying sales tax. the cue is great looking simple but rich. It is lucasi L EWR. Forgot to add i paid $225 plus tax.It really looks better then the photo that i stole off a web site.

Bruce:

Dollar for dollar you bought the best cue. They do build a good production cue. Good looking cue also!

Lucasi cues are made in a state of the art factory. The factory is owned by Lucasi and they also manufacturer cues for predator, mali, mcdermott, ...Found this on a web site and found it interesting. This is a copy and paste i did not write it.

Nice cue and a good deal! We do have that cue for $223.99 but you were able to get yours local which is great. Enjoy the new cue!

ditto..... My second cue was a 1996 Lucasi VI, very nice solid hitting cue. I don't think I'll ever sell this one either.
i have a vi also.had a brown wrap put on at 08 SBE and bought OB1 for it. only mistake made was not keeping shaft ring. nice clean look. i like it.

I have a Lucasi that I bought a long time back. It hits good with good balance but does not give me the same CB control that I get using my custom cues. Don't really know why, but it is so. If I play in a bar tourney, I use the Lucasi as I won't be worried about it being damaged or stolen while my back is turned.

I'm glad i bought mine local They had two of these. The one that had the nicer cocoblo had a shaft that was not as nice as the other. So i switched shafts and got the wood i liked and the shaft i liked and all it cost was $19 sales tax to see what i was getting.

Good for you, you got what you wanted and as long as you are satisfied that is all that matters. Have fun <,, ed

+1 for Lucasi making a great cue, I'm constantly being surprised with the way they play when I get to hit with them. I like their hit a lot more than McDermott's, as the McD's don't seem to give as much feedback, just seem rather dead in my hands. Good choice!

I was playing with a Cuetec it was well balanced and had a crisp hit but the sticky shaft sucked. The Lucasi is well balanced with a softer hit which i like better. But with the Lucasi i can draw the ball farther with less effort. To draw the ball the length of the table on an 8 foot long shot i had to hammer it with the Cuetec and now it takes less effort with the Lucasi !
So less force means better accuracy. And for some reason (balance ?)the Lucasi feels like a shorter cue even though they are both the same size. Does that make sense?
