I am a person, much like the OP, who has no inherent feel for things. Me, in particular, I have to understand the physics involved before I can see what is happening and then anticipate what should be happening. Luckily for me, I have a deep and through understanding of Newtonian mechanics and calculus so when I see something happen I can deduce what kind of physics was taking place, then see if I can replicate it a few times to refine my mental model.
To the OP, go Hit a million balls, watching the CB and OB for the entire shot (if possible) and you will either have some modicum of feel or will have given up. I am about 1/2 way though my million.
