I have never understood "feel"...

"Feel" is what you have after you are DONE with whatever the hell it was that you just did... It has ZERO to do with your Legacy.

(e.g. people taking a bumper off of a cue)

It might "feel" great on the finish of your shot... It has NOTHING to do with your wallet and the actions you took to get the tip of your stick on the face of the cue ball... Does that make sense?

No. But maybe you can elaborate.

Okay... I will bite. Combined together, it is the cue weight, balance point, grip surface, comfort of shaft taper, tip hardness and amount of vibration felt when shooting. Does it all flow and feel comfortable when shooting? However, you can still shoot great with a cue that doesn't feel right. Different strokes for different folks.

I disagree with your statement: "Feel" is what you have after you are DONE with whatever the hell it was that you just did". I can tell if a cue feels too heavy when stroking before the shot. But of course, that does not mean I can't make the ball. In fact, I miss a lot with my cue that feels great :(

I do think if you play with an odd feeling cue long enough, it will start to feel right. It just takes some time to adjust.

I am a person, much like the OP, who has no inherent feel for things. Me, in particular, I have to understand the physics involved before I can see what is happening and then anticipate what should be happening. Luckily for me, I have a deep and through understanding of Newtonian mechanics and calculus so when I see something happen I can deduce what kind of physics was taking place, then see if I can replicate it a few times to refine my mental model.

To the OP, go Hit a million balls, watching the CB and OB for the entire shot (if possible) and you will either have some modicum of feel or will have given up. I am about 1/2 way though my million.

I think "feel" is what you have during the act of doing whatever the hell it is you just did!

I'm not sure I can really explain myself but have you ever shot a long straight in shot and just KNEW it was in without even having to see it go in? If you have then you have felt it. It's a feeling, a knowing without seeing. That's the best I can do to describe it.

I have no idea what you mean here.

Feel is obviously subjective, BUT....IMO feel is the thought or sensation that happens just after any action....be it bowling, tennis, pool, golf etc.....feel is what our body tells our brain about what just happened....then our noggin can figure out what to do about it!

I switched from a moori medium to an Onyx tip and had to completely relearn my game, especially my banks for some reason. It almost seemed like there was too much english imparted to the object ball on my banks with the new tip. I know many would tell me I am crazy, that not that much english is imparted to completely change your aiming for banks just from a tip change ... but that is what I call "feel".

Would I have gone out and bet the farm right after switching to the Onxy tip? Course not! You have to get used to the feel.

A basketball player has to have the right "feel" for the shot to make those long three pointers. The baseball player must have a good "feel" for his swing to make that perfect contact that results in a home run. The golfer must "feel" the shot when he is chipping from off the green. The tennis player must have a "feel" for the ball when executing a prefect drop shot. The pool player must "feel" the shot when dropping the cue ball through a tight opening for position. And the list goes on and on. Pool is a game of "touch" and "feel", maybe more than any other. Take aim at that.

Pretty much dead on.... It's the level past visualization... Where you know exactly what it looks like and you have a preset feel for how you have to stroke the cueball to make it match perfectly what you envisioned....

Everyone has it to some extent but this may be one of the areas that weeds out the good from the great...
