i like my shafts dirty

I completely agree with Poolplayer...I cant play with a clean white shaft.

heres how sick I am...I add water to a chalk cube to make a blue paste, then I press it into new shafts to get them "ready". It's just a tascarella...;)

Well, I can see it...just tryin' to get the shafts to match the blue veneer...LoL! But...Ewwwwww...to the paste thing.

Powder is for the shaft- not the freeking chalk!!

I didn't think there was more than a couple guys in the world that actually rub chalk intothe shaft. How about your hands? and between fingers.(chalk is anti-slip ,just the opposite of what you need) chalk will give you no stroke and no follow through! If some of you guys would ( tape yourself and post on utube ) California would fall into the Ocean with laughter !!!!!! All I see is money , usually it takes a while to keep from laughing, All the shafts ,and cues are kept in Perfect Playing Shape. What you guys forget is the Pro's play with that preditor, Mezz , Sigel, 2 months , get another free Shaft.. They start with like 4. From all the sponsors. All my cues play all games- kind of like this- I went to cuemakers garage, we get inside and the Power in the blocks goes off. We sit and talk- I then pick up my lastest cue a 1983 Joss . Had it 3 days- tonight I played(on a 5-10 snooker) with the light from the door- so In the dark with huge shadows. The very first time I hit balls with the cue. I couldn't see the center of the red snooker balls. The problem was my stroke ,and the 1983 4pt ,leather wraped ,Joss, with clean Ivory ferrules, were in Perfect sink!! I cut the ball into a couple pockets like 7 at a time. My friend laughs sayes looks like all we can do is smoke a cigar- and sayes looks like you'll have to wait to run 50 next time. haha If you guys think just because the shaft is clean it isn't possible to play- well then you guys are sissys.

I actually like the blueish tint to the shaft. All mine have it. Probably cause I chalk with my bridge hand and it get my fingers all dirty. But I play with an open bridge most of the time so they aren't that bad. I seal them pretty good so they feel the same, blue or not.

I can't stand even a grain of chalk on the side of the tip, the ferrule and certainly not where I can feel it on the shaft. I need the shaft to be absolutely smooth and to shine like a new set of teeth :D

someone seems a little sensitive. i think you might have figured out why my stroke and follow through both suck!

My hands are always clean as I wash alot, and take showers alot too lol, anyways its just that my hands sweat alot. its a nature thingy of my body. even when I jog or do other sports. I sweat aloooooooooot

and covered in chalk. when i first started playing all my friends told me to let the shafts stay dirty. it takes a long time to get them that way and it just reminds you of how much work you've put into your game. of course these were the same kinds of people that called knicks and dings "character",lol! to be honest i don't like the way shafts look when they're all brand new.

anyway, am i the only guy that likes his shafts dirty and sealed with chalk dust and hand oil?

I like a nice patina on my shafts. Once your shafts are seasoned enough I've found that you can wipe them down with a paper towel and a couple of squirts of 409 and clean them without removing the patina.

The guys that are giving you the "free" shaft cleaning on the tip replacements are trying to cover up a poor installation. If your mechanic can't replace a tip without touching the shaft, find yourself another mechanic.

Lastly, I seem to recall reading (and I can't honestly say whether this is true or not) that hands don't have oil glands. The oil you're getting on your hands is actual from touching your face, particularly your nose. So if you want to accelerate getting oil on your shafts try rubbing your shaft along the sides of your nose.

Just be careful... or you'll poke your eye out :-)
