I love this girl

I love Jennifer Chen.

I saw her play and she is really GREAT, and very beautiful, in an elegant and sofisticated way. I think she is awesome.

Chen is a hell of a player, but what I like best about her is her presentation. She's always dressed nicely and takes a lot of pride in all aspects of her appearance. She's obviously able to afford very expensive clothes, giving her an edge over some of her fellow pool players.

FYI, her nickname on tour is the "China Doll", and it fits.

SJM and Turquoise,
I saw Jennifer Chen play a match 2 years ago at Peoria in which she lost (the first time I ever saw her play). During and after the match she displayed a very petulant, arrogant, and in many ways rude attitude - quite different than most of the other competitors. I have seen her play 3 or 4 matches since then and she has never shown this side again. I may have just caught her on a bad day that first time.

I only commented on the facts that she plays well and takes her appearance very seriously. Her playing demeanor is another subject, and it has seemed fine when I've watched her.

SJM,
My son's college roommate is from Taiwan; and claims that Jennifer C. must wear disguises to keep from being mobbed whenever she is there. This sounds as if she is quite popular in her home country.

Jennifer Chen is not only a great competitor, she is a dedicated student of this game. She is always striving to learn more and improve on her abilities. Jennifer IS pool in Taiwan. She is very well respected there (Taiwan) in much the same way that Efren Reyes is rspected throughout the entire world. She not only plays this game, she is a fine ambassador for it in her native country, and the rest of the world. She is also one of the classiest, friendliest, and funniest ladies that I know. Behind that beautiful shell lies the heart of a true warrior when she's at the table.

That is true.
That's why I had to break up with her. :p

For all the fans of Jennifer Chen, here is a picture of Jennifer and all her dogs.

Cheers,
Richard

I've been in Jennifer's company a couple of different times. It wasn't a situation where she and I spent an evening together or anything like that, but we happened to be in the same group of people a couple of times. She was a very nice, respectful (and respectable), classy lady....maybe even a little shy. This has been several years ago and it seemed maybe she wasn't really all that confident speaking English at that time....could be wrong, maybe she was just quiet. Rude? Arrogant? No way. I thought she was very humble and friendly considering the level of skill she packs. Now, when she's on the other side of a pool table, it's a whole different story. She's out to win the game, then....just as one would expect.

When Jennifer first came over to the US back in 96, she could not speak much English and everything was new to her. Jennifer was the first Asian player who came and lived in the US to compete on the WPBA full time. It took a lot of courage, determinations, and confidence to do what she did.

Jeanette was the only well known Asian face on the WPBA tour back then, Jennifer really had no previous model to look up to. She had to overcome a lot of barriers to get to where she is now. Nevertheless, she has set an example for a lot of other Asian players to follow. Right now, we have Ga-young Kim, Hsin Huang, Miyuki Sakai, Ikumi Ushiroda competing on the WPBA tour full time, and I am sure more new faces will show up.

Jennifer has been a true inspiration to many players and fans in Asia and the US. She is very busy in Taiwan now but she still takes the time to travel on average once every one and a half month to compete in the US. I expect her to win a major US title this year.

Attached is a picture taken at a press conference during the 2004 Amway Cup. Jennifer is sitting in the middle next to Jeanette. She had a different haircut in this picture.

Isn't she also an actress as well as a pool player ? If so, is she being recognized for her on-screen activities or her at-the-table activities ? Just curious ...

Jennifer and Tiffany

This is a picture of Jennifer Chen and Tiffany Nelson during a pro-am event. Participates were allowed and encouraged to shark their opponents--everyone was having a lot of fun.

Both Jennifer and Tiffany own a Layani cue.

Enjoy,
Richard

Jennifer Chen is gorgeous. This much is true. But what about some of the other women on the tour like this one?

http://www.azbilliards.com/2000storyb.cfm?storynum=1223

Angel Paglia is without a doubt one of the hottest and sweetest women on the tour. Sometimes, a guy who shoots out of the local room organizes small tournaments for some of them women on the women's tour. He's wealthy so he does it all out of his own pocket. Now if you thought Jennifer Chen was arrogant? I'm sure it was a bad day. Jeanette Lee, on the other hand, outright said that she wouldn't even show up without a $5,000 appearance fee despite that several others (Karen Corr, Allison Fischer, Helena Thorfeldt, Monica Webb, Kim Shaw, Tiffany Nelson, Jennifer Baretta, etc.) all showed up.

Vivian Villareal came in one night with Angel Paglia and the two of them played two of our better players in scotch doubles. On several occasions, one of these guys (a proficient one pocket player) had no choice but to take and make a one pocket style shot. To this, Vivian responded by laughing and saying things like "Oh God! That is such bulls*%@!" Everyone remarked at how rude she was. She had been there once or twice before and each time, she was quite unfriendly.

Angel, on the other hand, was very nice and very sweet. And hell! Look at that face! Anyway, thats just my opinion.

Jennifer is very serious at the table but she always gives her fans time before and after her match. She also display very good sportmanship during her match. I cannot figure out how she could give th eimprssion of being arrogant--may be it is because she was a bit shy about talking to someone in English?

Richard

When Jennifer first came over in 1996 she spoke better English than I spoke Chinese. She spent a brief period in Canada before spending time in the U.S. in Los Angeles. Jennifer worked harder than anybody I had ever seen in my life to get her game to the level it is at now. She is a very intense competitor and a very emotional competitor. If she was arrogant, it was possibly not intentional. I know what it is like for people to want your attention after a match, and sometimes if you came up on the wrong end of the match, there is some post match adrenaline still rushing through your veins - and unfortunate incidents occur. I have known Jen for almost 10 years and I consider myself blessed because of it. She has recently recommitted herself to making strides on the WPBATour after being slightly distracted by her commitments in Taipei. If she remains focused, I think she's going to have a wonderful year ahead of her in 2005. :D
