There sure were some great happenings and matches at their Vegas studio and some of the action out on the road was priceless.

Funny shit behind the mic was hard to top from these guys.

I think my favorites had to be the "Earl Hates Babies" match with Shane on the gaffy 10 footer.

It had everything!

shane's ferrule that buzzed every shot but he didn't know it, Earl's baggage handlers ear muffs, Schmidtty & JCIN's color commentary, etc, etc, etc...

It was piss-your-pants funny. :grin-square:

Then how about some of those late night DCC sessions? :grin-square::yikes:

I know things evolve, and even devolve, but, I def miss TAR.

what were some of your fond TAR moments?

best,

TAR 20 (I think) SVB vs Earl on the 10-footer.... John Schmidts commentary was literally laugh out loud funny.

One of the biggest (literally) moments was when I saw Justin and Big Nasty coming down the hall way together side by side!

For anyone who didn't see Big Nasty (RIP buddy) and Justin in person haven't a clue how large of a human these 2 were!

Pool wise, the biggest moment for me was the Donny/Shane match. I heard what Donnie was capable of and perceived it might be done but I never honestly believed it. No matter how much chatter I heard about it. AND I may never see anything like it again...It was totally sick! One of the sickest things I have ever seen on a pool table for sure.

I'm new so I'm still playing catch up on TAR. I loved the TAR podcast where Shane and Effren played scratch pool against each other.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kL9ena6j6M

I recently bought two of the videos Shane did on breaking and on the run out and thought both were really well done. It's too bad they didn't make more of those with other pros. It was money well spent for me at least.

I loved the podcasts with Justin and Mark. They pulled few punches and voiced their opinions on whatever was happening in the pool world. When I got back into pool in 2011, watching their podcast is what got me to purchase my first of many TAR PPV's.

I've seen some of TAR20 and really wish Justin would post it VOD on his web site.

TAR1 (SVB vs Corey) is a great match and it's on VOD. At the beginning of tape 4, SVB gets in dead punch and goes on a 20-3 tear. Billy and Grady provide great commentary.

I personally think TAR was as good as it gets and I'm doubtful it will ever be rivaled unless they fire back up. Talk about great losses in pool..... This was a major one
I do wish Justin would rethink this one, at least the DCC

Have you seen Joe Rogan doing his Earl impression? Priceless

I really miss the podcasts. I really enjoy hearing what all the players have to say, especially the goofy rapport between the Filipinos like in the one with Busty and Alex. I also really liked the one with Corey Deuel and John Schmidt - some good stories in there and interesting opinions from both on a variety of subjects. I'm a young guy that hasn't been around the pool world all that long and just having a camera on those guys for an hour is something really valuable for someone like me.

The one with Archer and Shane where they ask Shane about his break and Archer practically pounces on him to learn how he breaks is classic. I think that's also the one where Shane tries to explain how he aims and confuses everyone in the room.

Alex's miracle come-back in the first TAR match with Shane is right up there.

But I liked the Earl/Shane 5x10 match the best.
The cagey veteran played that gaff table better than Shane....
....the corner pocket to the right of the breaker was a serious trap....
...Shane started missing balls by a half diamond at that hole.....
...Earl adjusted his speed and limited his position options when shooting at the same hole.
....and the match felt REAL.....like the Lou/JB contest...no one was struttin'

Just to make it more disturbing for me, Alex called to tell me about a poker hand...
....but my phone was just about toast....even with it charging, it was going dead about
every three minutes....so Alex would wait five minutes and then call back to continue
the story....and to ask about the match....took about seven recharges before the story
ended.....when the match was done for the night....I needed a serious rest.

The SVB vs Donny match is TAR17 and it's on VOD. A lot of people have posted in various AZB threads about Donny's amazing break, but I don't recall anyone explaining it.

Donny would break with medium speed. The 1-ball would travel to the corner near himself. I believe the 2-ball would bounce off the end rail and come back to near himself. The three ball would BOUNCE TWO RAILS (off the side and bottom) then CAROM into another ball and be sent up table to settle near the 1 and 2. So he had the 1, 2, 3, and CB all up table for several easy shots. If you saw this once you would say the 3-ball got a lucky kiss. I remember him doing it 15 breaks in a row!

Jeff;

I never saw that match.

They weren't required to do random racking?

I'm going to go with what I consider the coming out party. Shane stepped up as an underdog against Corey and imo changed pool. At the same time we had Justin & Chad working with Billy & Grady and that match simply blew everyone away. I believe Mark G was there also and it inspired him to try and take TAR to the next level. TY all.

I have to agree with this. If someone bet me before I met Donny Mills, that someone can break the wing ball in 83 out of 84 breaks (give or take, but he only missed one wing ball...), I think I would have emptied out, just to see if it was possible. Remember, this was a table with used cloth, NO Magic Rack and racking with a wooden triangle. The balls weren't tapped in either.

Honestly, if Chad never sent that text to Shane to "start breaking like a US Open champion", Shane might still be wondering why he tried Donny at this game...

I was only able to watch a few of the Tar Streams, but enjoyed the ones that I did see.

I miss Justin not posting on AZ. He came up with the funniest one liners sometimes.

I admit to stealing a few of them.
