1st off,has anyone had the chuck lock tight enough to snap the tools on a "Cue Companion"?2nd,where does one go to get the training needed to have some of you bigger names use my ability?
I realize I am asking a lot on the 2nd but I am handicapped and have to make money and I cannot think of a better way than with something I love (and hope to upgrade to cuebuilding)

No worries. Go to Sears a buy a pair of what they call a "Line up punch"....Sears part #42902. In fact buy a back up pair too....because even at some point you'll snap off the heavy duty punches...and then its nice to have a couple back ups. Send the broken ones back to Sears as they replace the Craftsman product free for life. These punches work better than anything you can find to use as tools for your Cue Companion chucks...trust me.:wink:

As for training...there is no better way than the vast tools available....like the fine dvds by Unique...they walk you through each step by step process using the same machine you have. Hightowers tapes & book are well worth it as well. There are enough training tools available to learn what you need...especially if your machine is only a Cue Companion. If you are getting into heavier duty type equipment...then a local college machine shop course is not a waste of time.

tool replacement

I have broke off a number of tools in the Cue Companion chuck.
Just get a pair or two of cheap screwdrivers, cut the ends
off with a dremel tools. Works great for me.
Tip....remember which way is to tighten chuck
and which way is to loosen chuck.
Broke off a few going the wrong way! Years ago,when I
first got the lathe. Yes! I am a dumb A$$ at times!

Tip...Don't over tighten chuck.

Tip...Clean chuck & lubricate chuck bearings regularly.

Just reverse the motor and run the chuck in the reverse direction for a minute or so and it will loosen easily.

The design of the chuck allows the torque of the DC motor to tighten the jaws when it is turning in the normal cutting direction.
If you let it run long enough the delrin jaws will eventually be squeezed out of the chuck.
Unique Products has a chuck modification to help this problem.

As as far as your abaility ... that is one of the great things about making a product and having your own business ... you are only limited by yourself.

Me too... especially the big chuck, even after cleaning and lubricating it. Like some other posts, I bought some cheap screwdrivers and cut off the ends. Tried (lightly) tapping the tools with a hammer to loosen the chuck worked for me.
