I did a trade with a gentleman and gave him a $4000 Vollmer Q and gave him $3100 in on trade on what was supposed to be a brand-new tim scruggs unchalked and put away after Mike died! with full shafts we were supposed to cross paths shipping overnight mine got there the next morning his came six days later sent via priority ! and no check was put in the tube to pay the balance :( and then when I brought it up to him he cussed at me about me questioning his integrity ? The Q was delivered at 5:24 and I was sending him pictures at 5:28 PM so I was going to ask a premium because it was new unplayed and you tell me what you ? Please chime in shafts are 12.56 and 12.7 1Q is very straight but has tape marks where the wrap had been taped off at the points to refinish the button had 20 some dings in it !

here is more I was supposed to receive $800 I did not get a check so was I out of line by asking $1300 for thin shafts I played Q and a beat up Q I wanted to undo the deal but he's calling my integrity out

I hate these kinds of threads. I usually try to stay out of them.

I will say I have no idea what transpired in this deal, who said what, who is right, who is wrong.


I will also say that the cue pictured was obviously played. Not just test hit. Played. It is clearly not a non-chalked non-played cue that was put away.

But, from what I gather you were told this was a new/unchalked cue which you were supposed to get +$800 in trade for a cue you sent.

Now you want $1300 (an extra $500) to make up for the cue condition?

Sounds pretty reasonable to me....that cue definitely doesn't look anywhere close to new and if it were me I'd be seeing more than a $500 price difference there myself so I think your request is well within reason based on the above info.
 
If either party was not satisfied for any reason, you should be able to reverse the deal. It's clear from the pictures that the Scruggs was not as describe (although a nice cue) and I have no idea why the money wasn't made right (extra $800), but that sure raises red flags to me.

I agree with what has been said. Scruggs cue is definitely not as described, or even close for that matter. $800 should have been with Scruggs cue unless previously agreed upon.

Most importantly, the deal is not complete until both sides are satisfied.

+1 - a couple times on this one.

Either take the deal or each person gets his cue back.

IMHO - there is absolutely no possibility that both of you will be happy with
any re-negotiated arrangement.

I have noticed there seems to be a theme in threads of this kind. Very rarely, have I read a thread of this type and been able to clearly deduce even one side of the story as presented.

I can't help but wonder what type of communication leads to these botched deals that cause all this heartburn and tarnish folks on the forums. I am not even certain I know which party was in possession of which cue prior to the trade since re-reading the post.

What I can tell from your pictures, is that the cue appears to have been played, and is not a piece that anyone should describe as new unused condition, whether it was played or not.

People always give the grammar police a hard time. I understand that it is not always important, and levels of acceptability change based on the communication media. In a case where parties stand to have animosity over a multi-thousand dollar trade or purchase deal, however, I think it is important to be certain that each of you knows the terms of said deal, and that they are spelled out explicitly with ramifications should either party not live up to their responsibility in the transaction.
 
Good luck. Yes, the TS cue looks used.

You did not get the $800, so now you're at even more of a disadvantage. I'd ask for your cue back, but I doubt you'll get it... You'll likely not get the $1300 or the $800, either.
 
cornerstone...What is amazing is that as long as you have been dealing cues, you should know better. Use the escrow service and be protected. The cue is obviously not as described, and had you used an escrow service you wouldn't have this problem. jmo

Not only has it been played but that cue was downright abused. If the guy told you it was unplaced, then yes, i question the guys integrity myself.

I would cut the deal and ask for your cue back but I would use escrow. No way would i just send him a free cue.
 
This is why I would never again have a trade deal with someone I don't know and trust empirically....not without their cue coming to me first. People's word is just generally no good anymore. I've had more people lie and back out on cue deals this last year than the previous decade combined. The writing is on the wall, my friend. Gotta make sure you cover your ass these days. Period.
 
Asked to un do the deal on Friday when he got the Volmer on tues and I was still waiting and he told me is wife sent it usps ... it was supposed to be overnight (she sent priority) And as I received it I told him not acceptable please send mine back ! now he is done responding!! said he bought it 2 weeks ago from Bob who worked with tim !! and was told it was unplayed from him!!!

So lets find Bob?? Any one here know him? his text said bob chorcran
