Safety Abuse.
You own the top spot for a reason. Dance with the date you brung.

I'm still annoyed about a seven ball I shot in the corner and scratched opposite side with my team hill hill in the BCA 9 ball regionals last October.
Sorry, but I need to get this out because it is eating at me.
Last night in my league, I sold out in my last game. Playing 8 ball, my opponent was on the 8 ball and missed a very hard shot. I had 5 low balls left. I could have run out, and looking back probably should have. Instead, I tried to play "smart" and play a pretty easy safe which would have locked my opponent up pretty good. He would have had to kick, and the kick shot was a likely scratch.
Well, I put too much inside on whitey, and sold out, leaving him a very thin cut into the side. Of course, he made it.
I only slept three hours last night because I kept replaying the shot.
Out of about 200 players, I am currently leading the MVP race due to my high numbers of ERO's(8 ball run outs) and 10-0 wins. There are only four weeks left to play before playoffs. I need to start using my head. The safety was easy, but the run was not hard either, and I am very offensive by nature. I played the safe because one ball was in a weird spot, and this table was awful. I was worried about getting position.
I still do not know what the right answer is. I think my idea was good, just very poor execution. Two teammates agree with me, and the other two do not. I know I need to let it go, but I HATE when I do shit like that.
Feel free to comment, or not. I wrote it to vent, and to put in writing that I suck. Hopefully, this will somehow be cathartic.
Braden<---------still a banger!
I really appreciate all the advice, and the understanding. And, the other screw up stories do ease some of the pain.
At least this particular game did not mean anything. If this had been the state tournament, I would have been inconsoleable. My team means a great deal to me. We have only placed as high as third in the VNEA PA state tourney(A division), but our team is a true team. The other top tier teams are, almost always, cobbled together by bringing in two ringers from somewhere in the state. Our team is made up of 5 guys that have been friends for at least 15 years. 4 of us live within walking distance of each other. But, that makes the mistakes in crucial situations hurt even more. I think we have a good chance to win this year, so I need to keep focused. And let this stupid stuff go. There are still shots from 10 years ago that haunt me.
Thanks everyone for commenting. I appreciate the kind words and understanding. I am glad I am not alone.
