I need to vent!!!

I'm still annoyed about a seven ball I shot in the corner and scratched opposite side with my team hill hill in the BCA 9 ball regionals last October.

I've said this on other occasions when this type of thread comes up:

"The beauty of a mistake you make today is it helps you forget about the mistakes that were haunting you yesterday."

Freddie <~~~ it didn't help to ease any pain last time either

vent

We all make mistakes. We tend to dwell on the games we gave away but forget the games given to us. Put it in the vault and get em next time!!

Sorry, but I need to get this out because it is eating at me.

Last night in my league, I sold out in my last game. Playing 8 ball, my opponent was on the 8 ball and missed a very hard shot. I had 5 low balls left. I could have run out, and looking back probably should have. Instead, I tried to play "smart" and play a pretty easy safe which would have locked my opponent up pretty good. He would have had to kick, and the kick shot was a likely scratch.

Well, I put too much inside on whitey, and sold out, leaving him a very thin cut into the side. Of course, he made it.

I only slept three hours last night because I kept replaying the shot.

Out of about 200 players, I am currently leading the MVP race due to my high numbers of ERO's(8 ball run outs) and 10-0 wins. There are only four weeks left to play before playoffs. I need to start using my head. The safety was easy, but the run was not hard either, and I am very offensive by nature. I played the safe because one ball was in a weird spot, and this table was awful. I was worried about getting position.

I still do not know what the right answer is. I think my idea was good, just very poor execution. Two teammates agree with me, and the other two do not. I know I need to let it go, but I HATE when I do shit like that.

Feel free to comment, or not. I wrote it to vent, and to put in writing that I suck. Hopefully, this will somehow be cathartic.

Braden<---------still a banger!

You are a jerk for doging the safe.

Feel better?

hahaha

Look at the bright side, some games, some people can do no wrong. I won probably more games in my life, that I never should have have got to table in. I also lost the same amount, by the same thing. A guy would miss a ball so bad, he would send the cueball around and lock all my balls up and hook me. Every shot would go like that, until he crippled the 8 in,lol. If you hooked the guy, he might have lucked out and kicked it in, and rattled, but hung whitey. Kick his ass next time around. Stuff happens.

I really appreciate all the advice, and the understanding. And, the other screw up stories do ease some of the pain.

At least this particular game did not mean anything. If this had been the state tournament, I would have been inconsoleable. My team means a great deal to me. We have only placed as high as third in the VNEA PA state tourney(A division), but our team is a true team. The other top tier teams are, almost always, cobbled together by bringing in two ringers from somewhere in the state. Our team is made up of 5 guys that have been friends for at least 15 years. 4 of us live within walking distance of each other. But, that makes the mistakes in crucial situations hurt even more. I think we have a good chance to win this year, so I need to keep focused. And let this stupid stuff go. There are still shots from 10 years ago that haunt me.

Thanks everyone for commenting. I appreciate the kind words and understanding. I am glad I am not alone.

You most certainly are not alone. I hope that all the folks who come on here and proclaim that you can't learn to play better without gambling, cuz it's gotta mean something, read this and understand that letting down your teammates means a lot, too. It's a whole different kind of pressure...

Best of luck, Braden. I bet you won't need it, though :p

Well obviously you don't suck. Playing it right doesn't always mean you'll win, but your win percentage will always be higher because of smart play.

The person that said thick skin and bad memory is right.
Heck, my memory is so bad sometimes I can't tell how I shot the ball that I just shot. And that's the way I like it!

Vent all you want and get it out of your system completely, you don't want those kind of thoughts next time you play. Good luck to ya.
