I never missed a shot

Played in my 8 ball league last night.
I played in all 5 games and never missed one ball and I made a lot of them. One run out from the break included.
I won 3 games and lost 2.
It's a tough league.
And in case you are wondering how I lost the 2 games it was safety play.
I got out safed .

league is funny

my team made 40 shots in a row with out missing. i played in league pool for 43 years and this happened once.
2nd round we are playing at home.
1st player break and run
2nd player break and run
me i break make one of each and run
4th player break and run
5th player break and run

at the end of the night my buddies are joking around and ragging my ass because i gave the other team their only point because i made one of each onr the break.

Are you taking on difficult shots or playing safe instead? That's the most common reason I can think of why someone would be making all the shots but losing.

Bruce isn't into safeties unless there is absolutely no shot available.
For a old guy, he plays good, and he practices once or twice a week.
He can step up and run 50 in straight pool, and can string racks together in 9-ball.

I'm not much older than you Sonny.

I shoot at anything including white flags. I distain safes unless there is no shot at all.
People who play a lot of safes also like one pocket. A game I hate.
Subtracting the extra points you get for winning a game I pocketed 32 balls (if did the math correct) in 5 games with no misses. And I shot at every thing I could see.
And still only won 3 out of 5.
Tough league.

Safeties are vilified by many unfairly and are a very important part of pool that can change a sure loss into a sure win. I personally feel that most safeties are harder then 99% of all pool shoots out there as they generally require so much more delicacy and reading of the balls then most normal shots do.

If you (used in general, not directed at you) don't have a run out, then the next best thing you can do is to check the ego and look into how you can get yourself back to the table. Many very good players fall short because they simply can't do that.

In that case I have no idea why he never misses a shot but can't win. Sorry Bruce, I can't help.

Simple-I got out safed in 2 games. I had no makeable shot and played safe and got out moved.
And I do miss-just not last night.

It's pretty easy to get out-safed, after you've knocked most of your balls in.

I've seen it stated as "going to war, and killing all of your soldiers first"...

That's pretty cool.

The closest I came to this on a team is last week but not shots, just games.

I don't know the score of our fist set but we lost that, then my son won 4-0, I won 5-0, another guy won 4-0 and then he won again 4-1. So we lost 1 game in 4 sets.

I have not missed a shot in over 30 years... and I'm not kidding.

Now, some of my "safeties" were not all that good, and I might not have called it a safety before I shot, but I knew it was a safety after I shot it ;)

So many players take a what I call a 'no future' shot, perhaps making the shot but with no chance to run out after that. Never run down to your last ball and expect to play safe, because if your opponent has 4 or 5 balls left, he will out safety you. The object of the game is to keep the advantage at the table after each turn you shoot, whether you are running out or shooting a safety. It is much easier to move if you have a ball in hand than trying to shoot completely to the other end of table. This is simple logic folks. One way to win more is by making your opponent make the mistake in the game and not you doing it. Then when they do take advantage of it.

Remember, if you win the game, you outplayed your opponent, whether or not you had to use safeties to do it is immaterial. Learning to defend ones self is important in all aspects of life, including Pool.

Exactly, the same folks who "hate" safeties, love when their football team has a great defense and does not allow the other team to move the ball at all ?? Why not just let them have a go at the end zone, let's be fair ;)
