At Bank pool today his best game, 5-0,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Ok so we only played one game of 9 ball banks and I made 5 balls, before that we played one pocket(first time i played it in 8 years) I think I made 8 balls in 5 games before that we played 9 ball and he won about 60% of the games we played. I havent been able to play becasue my back has been so bad recently I have only played 3 hours in the past 2 weeks, today my back was perfect so we went to the pool room at 9am. The whole time I had tohear what a great bank pool player he is so at the end of the session I said lets play one frame of banks and he got smoked, it was great beating him at his game, all in good fun.

Seriously I cant beat Jay, if I was in stroke I would still need a little something in all games. He is going to the WSOP to play in a razz tournment, I have a small piece-wish us luck, its a good day in Vegas.

It must have been nice to have a day with no back pain. Guess that bodes well for the future.

its great to feel normal, yesterday i couldnt hardly get out of bed and the drugs didnt help nothing I couldnt hardly bear the pain. i havent been able to leave home much in the past week its been so bad, i'm going to go hit some balls in a few minutes and go to LA tonight.

I'm leaving for Germany in 2 weeks to see my Dr and hopefully fix whatever is wrong, when I get healthy I'm going to start playing full time 30hrs a week. When I play and dont have any pain i'm happy with my play considering how little I'm playing, I should be playing the best pool of my life in 6 months, which means we'll have to see if tooth has enough heart to make a fair game with me, he is a stronger player no matter what. I was told by Barry Benntoncourt(SP?) that weight is purchased not given, he owned a pool room in modesto in the 80's. I'm willing to buy some weight-infact I'll buy as much as Tooth is willing to sell-provided he is fair about it, it would be a shame if we cant make a game, pool needs a million dollar game.

For the record the back problem isnt me dodging anyone, players that know me will vouch for how bad my condition is, its strange though today i feel 100%.

I feel you FATBOY. I finished my radiation therapy (three weeks straight, weekends off) almost two weeks ago, and man do I appreciate feeling well. I've felt better than EVER this weekend. Feeling sick or in pain constantly, for even a short period like 3 weeks is very depressing. Especially for me, who likes to be moving and doing something. I hate sitting at home for too long. Drives me nuts, so I was seriously fighting off some depression through all this.

To top it off I went to visit my grandmother who was dieing of cancer in TN..and she passed while I was there. I drove down the DAY after I had my last treatment with my two year old daughter. Bad idea. She and I made the 12 hour drive...but I felt horrible for about three straight days (all the while, taking care of my little girl without my wife's help..YIKES).

After about the third day (and lots of sleeping - I actually slept when she slept) I felt a lot better. Now, almost two weeks I feel close to normal and its great. I'll never take feeling GOOD for granted again. I truly feel that the old saying is so so true. What does not kill you, TRULY makes you stronger!! Sorry to take over your thread...just wanted to say I know where you're coming from, and hope you get everything squared away. Hears to many more days of pain free run-out pool Fatboy! Worth more than all the money in the world.

I know what you mean, the other day I tried a dessert called "death by chocolate" but it only made me stronger...:D

Seriously, I've battled pain most of my adult life from various car accidents and sporting injuries. You're in my thoughts Fatboy and Matt.

Cheers,
RC

i have been down for 2.5 years, the past 2 have been the worst, i had to stop going to the gym, i love body building, i go hunting in africa every year for a month, last year i tried but a week into the hunt i called it off, this year i didnt go, i have to lay flat 20-22 hours a day, i cant sit in a chair without being miserable and full of pills, i hate pills, thankfully i dont have a addictive personality and i refuse the heavy drugs.

Its amazing how when your sick you realize just how nice life is when your healthy, forget $$$, etc, man being sick is the worst, i have callouses on my elbows, from being in bed, i work from home so i can still take care of business but some days i cant even do that.

but today is a good so i'm off top the pool room, i was watching golf, Tiger didnt win :(

Well, things didn't work out in the Razz tourney. I got kncoked out about
1 AM, about halfway thru the field. Just could never pick up any cards, and when I did, I drew blanks.

Last week in the 7 Card Stud, I came close to the money, getting down to eight tables. They paid only five tables, the final 40 players out of 395. If I go back, it will only be to play in the big one next month.

Someone just called me and said one of my buddies, Bill McMahan, just cashed around 5th or so in one of the events. Did you happen to hear that name at a final table? I checked the net but couldn't find any info.

Good luck in the next game.
D

EDIT- Just found out for sure that it was 4th in the No Limit Hold 'Em for a cool 196K.

Geeze, i stake Jay after beating his brains in playing one rack of banks and he dumps me,,,,,,,,,i cant stand it!!!!!!!, watch out for this guy.

just kidding Jay Helfert is a great guy, we knew each other way to many years ago and i diasappeared from pool and found him here, now we hang out all the time, i cant wait to beat him at banks again, man that was easy, soft action dosent begin to describe it. :p , truth be told i dont have a shot beating him at banks they were just going in for me yesterday, i went back while jay was going on tilt at the poker room and I still couldnt miss a bank-every dog has his day,

i'm taking a piece of Jay in th main event if he plays, seriously he can play poker and dosent go on tilt-he said he is too old, which i dont buy, he plays strong in big fields.

all joking aside Jay is one of the greatest people I have ever had the honor to call a friend, we didnt know each other well 20somrthing years ago and that was a loss for both of us, he is one hell of a guy and great friend, thanks Jay. oh yeah you only need to get to 4 next time we play banks. ;)

Ha Ha Ha Ha. I just wonder how much all these compliments are going to cost me. Will you settle for 20? Okay, how about 50?

A question for Fatboy

Since you are up and around a little, why not fly to Sacramento and meet up with Bucktooth at Hardtimes. You guys could put on a show and stat your woofing early or maybe you will feel good enough to play.
