Finally got my Riley Arostricat Steel Block Tournment Table set up(after 18 months), light is installed, then the A/C broke so it was around 84 in the snooker room for another week, I felt like I was never going to play on it.

finally got the AC fixed, now there it is the most beatiful sea of green nap cloth I have ever layied my eyes on. I played snooker in the late 809's my best break was 53 or 56 I cant remember, using 2 1/8" balls, now I'm using 2 1/16" balls (BIG DIFFERENCE)

So in the last 20 years I lost my feel for the game, 100%. I think I potted 6 balls in a row in the 2 hours I played on it-that was my best. Thing is my pool game is spot on but WOW those tiny balls sure are different. I'm sure with proper coaching and time I will get back into the 40's soon. My goal is a 80 Break, I have tournment cut pockets, not club size so it will take a but of time.

I really wish snooker was the game here in America, but its just not economically viable, the tables take up to much space and the cost of operating a room just dosent make sence,

Its amazing how different the games are, when I started playing pool I started snooker at the same time so playing both wasnt that different, now its a world apart, as my pool game might be the best its been and snooker the worst its been, I played in Thailand for 3 hours about 8 years ago, towards the end of the session I got the feeling back.

I'm beyond blessed to have such a table, it rolls good, there is a couple spots that roll off .2" here and there but well within a good standard.

i will let everyone know when I have a 40 break, remember 80 is the one year goal.

wow that sounds cool, i wanna come over to your place ;) !!! i probably suck worse than you though, haha. no snooker tables near me for at least a year and a half now...

Focus on practicing long potting. Everything else should fall into place as you get more consistent with table length shots. It would also be worth practicing potting the black and blue off their respective spots.

Hello Eric, I also love the game and I would love to put a nice table in my room but with the 3-Cushion Billiards table I recently put in I just don't have the room. Back in the 70's when I was learning the game the gentleman who was teaching me use to have me practice with 2 1/4 inch balls on the snooker table. It was certainly torturer, but I actually did get to the point where I could make a number of balls, and I even use to challenge some of the better players to play 1-Pocket using the big balls. In most cases they really did not like the action and after a few sets they would quickly look for an easier target.

Eric I would suggest giving it a try, it will improve your Snooker Game and your pool game, in addition it is great fun when you can talk a good player into a game that in most cases he will not like very much.

Take care, glad to see you back posting!!!!!!

Don't get frustrated. It will take time. I am jealous, would really love to have a table of my own. One day I will.

Agree that cost of operating and maintaining snooker tables is higher but I believe its the demand and interest for snooker that is lacking. After speaking to countless billiard room owners and players over the years, unlike the ease and adaptation into 8 & 9 ball from the getgo, they all generally had the same response that this is mainly due to smaller balls, smaller pockets, narrow cue-tips and larger tables which makes the game sorta difficult for people to play. I think snooker is by far more strategic and for serious players, wouldn't you agree?

I grew up playing snooker, love the game and certainly wish this game was properly and thoroughly promoted here in the US. Surprisingly, many people who play 8/9 ball regularly still have no clue what snooker is all about and I've yet to find a table here in Orange County, California, LOL.:o

Fatboy, you have to go to a complete UK conversion.:D

Get rid of you pool tables and install an English 8-ball table. Maybe you could beat Jay on it.

Undoubtedly, the large difference in ball weight/size and pocket configuration gives you grief when you aren't playing both snooker and pool regularly. That's been my experience. And as I am quite sure that I could match your ring game record:p:p:p I assume we play at similar level of ineptitude:D:D:D

To put it another way, Mark Selby playing snooker and UK 8-ball at the highest levels is much less of a feat than performing well at both Snooker and American pool at the same time.

fatboy if your ever in toronto, give me a pm and can meet you and coach you to sort your game out,

im in the process of writing a book on the game, i will also post videos of me playing someone filmed me hitting a few balls the other day so will put up link once there on you tube
