People can be very creative and nasty when it comes to being an Internet thug, and some have a lot of practice at it. It always seems to be the same pimple faced, greasy fingered kid typing into his computer in his parents basement doing the job.

I don't see the need to bash anyone at all. Why limit bash our free posts to just the pros.

Everybody gets bashed on here (including me) from time to time. If you're too thin skinned, then the "net" is not for you.
I have never done a pro tournament where somebody didn't criticize me or offer suggestions on how to make it better. What I learned is to consider the criticism or the suggestion and see if it's justified or has validity. If it is, then I take it to heart and look for a solution. If it's not, then it is like water off a duck's back. And this duck has let a lot of water run down his back (on here also).

Hey, maybe only the strong survive?? Maybe some of the pros that do post get what they want out of it by finding a sponsor or getting info then lose interest. I don't think I know of any pool player in the world that has not gotten some form of criticism about something. Seems like it should be easier to take it in a forum rather than in person (unless you are the violent, confrontational type). I think the people that have left should realize that it's actually a pretty cool group here and shouldn't look at it as being a pro or getting a chance to get a little ass-kissing. People should look at it as a chance to talk about what they love to do with other people that enjoy the same thing.

That about says it all. I consider myself a pool student and I'm glad there are knowledgeable folks that are willing to come here to share what they know. This forum has made pool much more fun for me than it would have been without it. I remember well just a few years ago when this sort of thing was truly unheard of and not even a germ of a thought in the wildest of imaginations.
The internet is wonderful and AZ is at the top of the pool world on the net.

Good post Sarah. I just wanted to point out one other thing. In case you didn't already know, there are many people posting regularly on here who play pretty sporty pool. Maybe better than some "pro" players. Just because you don't recognize the name, doesn't mean they can't play.
I've come to find out about some former pros and lifetime "hustlers" posting on here incognito. There are lots of pro players who wouldn't want to tangle with these guys. If you put together an All Star team of regular AZ posters, it would be an impressive line up. I wouldn't want to try to run that gauntlet.

is that the Pros can get a barometer feel for how the fans are receiving them, and that, in itself, may alter their behavior some. It puts the public eye directly on them, and they are forced to see themselves as others are seeing them. In some respects, it is good, because it could help elevate our sport in professionalism, and help it be viewed more favorably by the general public.
It generably helps Pros be more 'responsible' in a general sense. Take the IPT, and the rules they established, dress code, etc.. Everyone still had fun and everything, but the events came off more professional than other events did.

Exactly. I do miss some of the folks that have left, though, and also am amazed at some that have stayed!

I forgot to mention how much I have learned by coming here. I have said before that just because I have the title of "pro" doesn't mean that I play better than anyone. It just means that I spent way too much money to not make much back by becoming a pro. Jay, you are right, there are alot of good players that post here that play as good or much better than some pros. I think everyone should have an open mind and realize that a little more. Just because someone has a recognizable name doesn't mean that they know everything! (I know this because the lack of knowledge that I have)
Joey...I think my five has been hanging out in your pocket a little too long. I will rescue it one of these days.
