I was chatting with Jayson at the MIH event and told him I was giving him a new nickname. After I told him he didnt object & I think he kinda liked it.

His nickname should be "Lights Out"

With the speed and consistancy he starts stringing and speed racing thru racks, he starts shouting lights out and it's game over for whoever he is playing.

If you like the new name let's get it to stick.

Its too common of a phrase in my opinion, hence the point of nicknames. Although why he got named eagle eyes before hawkeye is beyond me.

All pro shoot lights out when they hit a gear. Jayson's nickname should have to do with his personality and game. Hurricane or something.

Like it better than Eagle Eye.
Especially if he starts to say it before a runout. Ala Ginky.
We need players to talk it up a bit!

Couldn't agree more. "Eagle Eye" is just bad. Hawkeye is good. Lights Out isn't bad. You can never go wrong with a homeland reference. Like Jason "Great Scott" Shaw, or "The Scootin Scott" cause he works so fast.

***Not that I really care but since it's a thread...***
I don't like that everyone has to have a nickname. I think it's better when someone has one that really fits and makes sense. EG, "The Magician"

Otherwise it's kinda corny. That's my $.02 and it's worth what ya paid.

I really like "The Left-Handed Gun", because he's like a gunfighter the way he calmly shoots his opponents down, like the original left-handed gun, "Billy The Kid".

BTW I hate "Eagle Eyes". Don't blame him for wanting to change it before it's too late. Which it will be very soon, because he is rapidly becoming a household word. Man, that kid can PLAY!

Most of the pool nicknames are simply stupid. It is not a name you would yell to someone to get their attention as they are walking down a hall.

A nickname is something you should earn or be given to you. Not something you pick.

lights out is the worst possible nickname iv heard

he was called the wizard before back ion Scotland but i think because john Higgins the snooker player is named the wizard of wishaw people didnt want to call him that also

i would go for the wizard

Eagle eye works because basically that's what he's good at... he shoots inhumanly straight.

Light out just means... what, he strings packages on you and you're doomed?
That's kind of generic and applies to any really good player.
For that kind of thing, I like buzzsaw.

A lot of the announcers have given him the unofficial nickname "Shore".

I dont pay much attention to rotation, but if he's left handed... how about Jason the south paw shaw.

The only thing that I can think of that denotes his ability and that is a little better than "Eagle Eye", is Jayson "Sharpshooter" Shaw.

I think the nick will need to emphasise how fast he shoots

Quick Shaw (like in Big Show)
Slow Shaw ( a play on Slow Hand)

Jayson "Jersey" Shore?

Actually though, I think he deserves a nickname that represents his explosive style of play, something like Shotgun, Supersonic, etc...
