I Want to Date a Schon Cue.
It's hard to date them.

Dashed rings were standard then custom.
Silver rings were custom then standard.

So, a first year R1 could have silver rings
and a much newer R1 could have dashed rings.

Does anyone know of a way to date an older Schon cue?

Go to the Schon website. For $20 they will send you all the info on your cue....date...how many made....etc. You have to send them a good photo with your payment.

I want to date a Szamboti but I don't make enough.

Only $26K 0n Ebay.

You should be able to see the fiber in the old black phenolic rings, the newer stuff looks much darker and you don't see the weave

The SCHON logo is scripted a certain way during certain time periods....search on here to see the various versions on the logos or look it up in the Blue Book of Cues

The shafts should have micarta ferrules, not always, but often

The thread pitch of the originals were different than the more modern versions. You can get a new shaft to fit and old butt, not so much with an old shaft fitting a newer butt.

The original cues were not cored and the newer ones are as far as I know.
