I was SCAMMED on Accu-Stat DVD's!

I responded to a For Sale listing for 65-70 new Accu-Stat DVD's from indy1p.
This is the original listing http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=187837. The seller indicated that he was selling the box of DVDs for a friend and even gave me a refund of $100 explaining that someone had notified him that the DVDs could be fake bootleg copies, but they seemed all right to him. As long as they were watchable copies, I was fine with that. I ended up paying $300 for 67 DVDs, mostly Accu-Stat one-pocket matches.

When the DVD's arrived, I counted only 26 different titles! Many were duplicates, with three or four copies of the same title. In addition three boxes were empty with no DVD! I emailed the seller right away, telling him I was not satisfied with our transaction. I offered several ways to make it right, either with a partial refund or by giving me some additional DVDs. (He had previously told me that he had over 1500 DVDs and sent me a list.) Now he is denying any responsibility for the transaction or any refund, giving me the email address of his "friend".

I am so mad that I let myself get scammed by a seller with no ITrader rating. On this forum, I have over 30 transactions and on Ebay over 180 transactions with 100% positive feedback. I've always been careful to deal with experienced sellers with a long history of honorable transactions. I made an exception in this case and got burned! Oh, the DVDs were definitely bootleg copies. I noticed that the seller has edited his original post, removing the blurry picture of the DVDs and his description. I doubt that he will be listing here again, but if he should, be aware!

let me just quote this so it isnt gone later !

i stated to him if he wanted a refund he could have got it after i got a message saying they could be fakes..
he replied it dont matter and i refunded $100 to him "just in case" he sends me an email saying he wanted a refund and i told him after he agreed to take the $100 refund and was ok with it i released the funds to the guy i was selling for he is now gone and so is the money.
I get this email demanding money back after he had full knowledge of what they might be i never even looked at the box..
He wanted me to make him 38 copies of the ones i have and i refused and emails to prove so..this guy is no saint...
also gave him contact info who the money went to and all within 4 hrs he did a pay-pal dispute and lost and never contacted my buddy in which he would have gotten a full refund...There is 2 sides to this story now with all this slander im torn on what to do..

Big Points:
1) Nobody was scammed by Accu-Stats.
2) What everybody needs to do is buy direct from Accu-Stats and support Pat Fleming.

and as far as i trader i have none but ebay 1100 positive feedback and i have bet thousands on here and am on the best action list..he didnt give any time at all to work it out.. as far as all the red bombs thats mighty white of you two not knowing the whole story

If I remember correctly, the original ad never mentioned anything about the fact that any of the DVDs were "possible" boot-leg copies. Rather, it stated that they were shrinkwrapped, which I interpreted as meaning that they were in the original packaging. If he had mentioned TO ME at ANY time during the transaction that they were possible boot-legs, I would not have finished the transaction. That would have been a real warning bell...along with his statement that "I'm not going to make a list anything, what you see is what you get".

I think it is a damn shame for someone to come on here and rip someone off...just a damn shame!!

Joe

You're right, Joe. I should have read the warning signs and not gone through with the transaction. It was not until I already paid that I was told of the possibility the DVDs could be pirated copies. Nevertheless, I foolishly decided to go through with the deal.

Those who criticized me are correct; Accu-Stats provides an excellent service taping pool matches and Pat Fleming deserves to be paid for his work. I tried to edit the title of my post but cannot change it so that it is clear that Accu-Stats is not scamming me. If anyone knows how to edit the title, please let me know.

Pete

You must request the powers to be to edit the title for you.
Since you have nothing for sale by the rules this thread should be deleted.
You could request that of a mod thru PM. :idea2:
At least it should probably be moved to the buyer seller transaction report thread.
Were the empty boxes shrink wraped?

Yes, Pete has some responsibility in the transaction because he did continue with the transaction after you made the disclosure. However, what you did was a crime. You knowingly sold pirated copies of copyrighted materials, and you openly admit that in this forum. You are correct that people on here are not dumb.

It's obvious you intentionally lied in your for sale thread, knew they were boot leg copies before you posted. You were trying to scam someone here on AZ, as well as ripping off Accu-stats. You should be banned for this type of criminal activity.

I'm kinda torn on this one.

Nobody should get less than what they paid for and no one has the right to
misrepresent a product or service that's offered on here, BUT....

if your friendly neighborhood drug dealer gave you Manitol instead of cocaine, do you really have any recourse??

-von
Of course you have a recourse.Legal or not, when you buy anything you expect to get what you payed for including drugs! His point is he didn't get what he payed for.If were talking about being 100% legit and honest, their might be a few that are,but not many.I still believe the theirs honor amongst theives.:)

What really is a shame is that the 26 different titles come out to about 11 bucks apeice for $300. OP should've just bought them legit, it would have cost about the same, and they would be the real videos. All this bickering back and forth is really unnecessary. Both of you are to blame. As was stated before, the seller knowingly scalped bootleg copies and the buyer knowingly received them. That's a crime on both parts, and both parties had no qualms about trading in stolen materials. I think there's a lesson to be learned here...

If a deal seems too good to be true, it usually is. (obvious statement is obvious)

Agreed. You can't call the cops when your drug deal goes bad... If your PayPal dispute was decided aginst you, then you have no recourse. Hard to believe that was settled already though, it normally takes a few weeks.

Here's another thought though: we have seen on here many times before that selling something for a "friend" does NOT absolve you from the consequences. If you're the seller posting, then you must take full responsibility for what you are selling, friend or no friend.

I agree! Same reason the "friend" doesn't have his own AZ handle. I do that all the time for my younger bro and some folks that are not really computer literate here and on the bay. but i know it's my neck i'm sticking out for them! They always buy me a cup of coffee though, so i guess it's ok!

This is exactly like buying a cue you knew was stolen and then complaining because there was a scratch in the finish. You knew you were buying bootlegged DVD's that are the intelectual property of Accu-Stats, then complain that you didn't get your moneys worth? You're lucky if you don't end up with some conspiratory charges involving the purchase of known stolen property after you put it all out there for all to see! Hard for me to feel sorry for you in this spot!

That just edits the post title.
No you can not edit the original title that appears in the index.
You must request a Mod do it for you.
I suggest to roll it back and flip it.:outtahere:
Or request it be deleted.
