Theres a new pool room in Tullahoma TN. A former Pro named Bart "something" has opened a nice room with about NINE 8 footers, FOUR 7 footers, and TWO 9 footers.

He has a small tournament every Saturday night. $15 entry. Race to 5. Usually about 10-20 people show up.

Anyway, my first match was against the owners son. He's probably a little better than I am, but he plays fast and misses some easy shots. I definitely had my chances. I missed an easy 8 ball (9ball was hanging) that would've made it hill/hill.

My second match was against this younger fellow. He played decent but was probably a ball or two below me. I jump out to a 3-1 lead and he makes the 9ball on the break. Next rack he runs out on me. Next rack I miss a long thin cut on the 9ball. Next rack I missed a thin cut on the 8ball.

I had a good time and it was a fun way to kill a Saturday evening.

Hal,

Gotta love the 2 n out nites. I've had plenty of them, with more to come lol. Those are the nites that I generally sit back and watch the rest of the tournament and go damn, If i would have only made that shot or this one, I would have easily beaten that guy.

but oh well, what doesnt kill us makes us stronger

I play about 20 hours a week. Maybe more. But 99% of that is by myself. There just aint no substitute for that gut wrenching hard core nerve racking tournament scene. Even if it's for a $100 prize or whatever. I found myself playing nervous or "scared".

That was the main reason I didn't play in many of the bigger tournaments($1000+ added). I could play 14.1 for $100 race to 150 or 9-ball for $10 to $20 a game and think nothing of it, but in a tournament I would always be nervous for the first match a least, even if I was the better player. I never could figure out why. Johnnyt

i went 2 and out in the last tournament i played in. i should have beaten that guy that beat me first. should have beaten him easily even jumped out to a 4-0 lead and lost 4-6. the guy that beat me next was the better player. guess it just wasn't in the cards

When I go 2 and out, I go straight out the door. I'm usually too disgusted with how I played to stick around and watch.
I've been on a losing streak lately, losing my last 4 league matches and going 2 and out in the state 8 ball tourney. I did manage a 2nd place finish in the Friday night tourney last week , but it must have been an Isolated incident, because I suck right now
