I was fortunate enough to hang out with AZ member ibuycues at the Young Guns Challenge at Shooters in Olathe. Many of you know Will and that he is one of the foremost cue collectors in the world. For those that have not met him he is gentleman and a great story teller. There are some great stories that go with each of these cues.

Will brought out "a few cues" for me to shoot some pictures of. I will be posting them in Flash Galleries on our site over the next week or so. Right now my favorite one is up. It is the Ed Kelly Ginacue. If this cue could talk. The next one to go up is a monster by Andy Gilbert, who also is one hell of a nice guy and right on top of the cue world. His fancy stuff is a knock out.

The Kelly cue is up now and the Gallery for the Gilbert will be up by this evening. The next one up is a box cue by a dude named Gus.

Thanks for the opportunity to see and photograph these cues Will. I had a great time and I am glad people will get to see some amazing works of art.

That Gina is a landmark cue. I was lucky enough to meet Ed Kelly in Las Vegas last year and get to hear the story of how it ended up at the bottom of a swimming pool.(Hint: a woman was involved) The cue is over 40 years old. Hopefully Will can give a few more tid bits about it if he gets a chance. That is a very cool cue.
 
I've been wondering where that Ed Kelly Gina was... Thanks for posting the great pics. Beautiful cues!!!

I'm as impressed with the photograhy as I am with the cues.
 
Really great idea, photography, layouts, etc....that Will's got some sweet cues, doesn't he ??

I have pictures of 4 or 5 more to get put together. They are very cool cues to say the least. I want to build a resource on TAR for people to see some cool pictures of interesting cues. Like everything else it is an ongoing learning curve. Fun though.

Thanks for all the kind words. Wait till you see the ivory handled Mottey and Schick. Will don't play kids.:D
 
Anybody who knows anything about cue collecting knows who Will Proutt (sp.?) is!:D Like Blud said in another thread, the big cue collectors are fairly tight with 'showing off' their collections (for obvious reasons), and it's really nice of Will and JCIN to give us the chance to see some of his cool stuff here!

I did them yesterday morning with pics I took in Olathe. Pics are from a Nikon D80 with a 50mm/1.8 Nikon lens (that I got for $80 used, great cheap and fast lens). All the pics were taken hand held on a bar table in Shooters with ambient light and then processed in Photoshop. Lot of room for improvement as far as the basic images. I had to open the aperture way up to get a decent exposure, most are between 1.8 and 2.8 thats why the depth of field is so shallow. The white balance and color needs work too, still learning that stuff in Photoshop.

Here is one that I really like that came about from just playing with the burn tool. (Got that idea from coopdeville. Thanks Coop told ya I was gonna steal it :D)

One of these day I am going to get me one of those fancy schmancy Macro lenses and do some really cool stuff. Soon as I figure out what Macro means and how to do it that is.

I think our guy Cubc is a profi with the Chop work....
But you seem to be well on your way...

JCIN thanks for the photos! You have talent like mentioned, they look very professional. Keep'em coming! Cue section at TAR site could be great to expand and to visit. More cues of the pros please!

The 60mm is your best bet if you're using Nikon equipment. It's a great lens and with a decent tripod so you can increase the depth of field and maybe even a remote trigger you can take some awesome macro shots.

People collect cues? Kinda crazy if you ask me. Isn't one enough to shoot with?
