For all those who don't already know there will be a ICC show at the Ritz in West Palm FL. Hours are 1-5 PM on sat Oct 1, it is open to the public. I am not sure the admission fee, but it will be small (under $20). This show will feature some of the top cuemakers in the world and some of their new works of art. Also many of Florida's best cuemakers will be there shooting the shit. I think this is worth while just to meet some of these cuemakers and look at their cues, even if you don't think you can afford them or aren't in the market. But more important I'd like to urge people to talk with these guys and ask them questions, pick their brains and learn something. You may not know who I am, you may not even like me, but from day 1 I've always said don't take the opinions here too serious. We have gone back and forth here about many issues (cue design theft being one) and I've always said from day one don't take my word, go to the source. So now is your chance, go ask these guys. You are going to find that even these "experts" don't agree on all topics, but what they have to say means much more then any poster here who only posts second hand knowledge or who is trying to sell a cue. Go and have fun, and look at cues.

richard black and samsara will not be attending! but rick chudy sent me picks of a new design that is stunning , and really sets the bar very high!and jerry is also revealing a new design that is amazing and thomas is doing a seminar on cue design and took a neck tie and designed a cue that is going to be a show stopper out of gold , silver,ebony ivort and curly purple heart!!my friends it will be a great show also talked to bob manzino he will be attending!! enjoy! bill

Dennis is not an exhibitor at the event...
However, both he and I are attending the event. Today there was a seminar from about 10am till 3pm that included speakers such as Rick Chudy, Bill Schick, Bill Stroud, Sue Bachmen, and Thomas Wayne. Included was quite a history lesson from Bill Schick...he spoke of his beginnings in cuemaking & inlay work, and spoke on authentication of collectible cues. Rick Chudy spoke of the evolution from the pantograph to the CNC inlay work. Bill Stroud paid homage to the late Eddie Taylor, and about cuemaking as well. Bill has reiterated his intention to retire by the end of the year, but stated that as long as his machinery was still in his shop he found it hard to ignore. Sue Bachmen spoke of procedures on how to catalogue a collection, and her new "coffee table" cue art book to be released this winter. Ms. Bachmen is a true billiard enthusiast and really wants to help cue collecting come into the mainstream. Thomas Wayne talked about some of the designs that he has come up with and the inspirations for them and it was very interesting to get inside the mind of such a great artist even if only for a moment. All in all, it was very informative and if given the choice I would repeat it again. :cool:
Later on, at 5pm there was a cocktail party where each exhibiting cuemaker presented 1 cue made for the "Showcase at the Ritz" and schmoozed with the rich and famous. I did not attend the cocktail party, but I will be there tomorrow for the cue show. :D
It was nice seeing Dennis and Jimbo.

Attendance at the seminar was maybe 25-30 people, including exhibiting cuemakers. I don't know about the cocktail party.
I have known of Ms. Bachmen since around 1992 or 1993. I spent quite a bit of time in California, Oregon, Washington State, Nevada, Arizona doing cue repair. Spent quite a bit of time in San Francisco as it is one of my favorite places...Ms. Bachmen owned Chalkers Embarcadero and Chalkers Emeryville and promoted pool quite a bit back then. Later on, I dealt with her when she was doing the Blue Book.
I don't know about any other AZ's as I did not stay for the cocktail party, or they were not introduced as such.

Thanks for the info. It sounds like an interesting event.

Knows Jimbo was probably walking around, in shorts, complaining about the heat ;)
 
Unbelivable!!!!!

I just got back from the show and every cue there was nicer then the next one.
It was really quaint,not that many people there so it was real easy to get to talk with all these great CM's.Bill Schick had this cue that he called the magic cue.All
scrimshawed in color even part of the shaft was scrimshawed.It was already sold.The workmanship on these cues was the best Ive ever seen.I had my wife with me and she does not play but she was oohing an aweing just like me.It was like going to an art gallery.I think the least expensive cue there was about $2500.ranging to whatever you cared to spend.Thomas Waynes and Rich Chuddy had some very impressive cues.They all were very impressive.
I am still in cue shock.I want all of them.Plus I want to chalk each and every one and play with it.Thats what they are suppose to be for anyway.

I was able to get to the show and took some pics--most did not turn out as nice as I would have wanted but oh well. Here are a few pics of the Schick cue and case----UNREAL--I will post more detailed pics tomorrow
