I voted pool but that is second to snooker. Honestly there is no competition from any of the others for me.

The bills

2 greatest Bills of all time:

1) Scott Norwood (The kind of wood that is easiest to burn)

2) OJ (Always had a knack for cutting and slashing)

If only honor, not money, was your criteria -- you'd want to be a:

-Number one it must not pay well.
-Number two Honor is very arbitrary no matter the sport.

The only answer is pool, as the money is the worst of them all...

No shortstop?

Well if short is taken I guess you guys could use a utility infielder!! Luis Aparicio, my hero, Little Luey. My heart pounds. :D :D

I'd get Travis Trotter as our batboy but I'm afraid in no time all the bats would be laminated in fiberglass.

Cork Wrap???

I heard that Sammy Sosa took his cork wrap and used it for other purposes! Little Luey would never do that!! He would steal but he wouldn't cheat. A Cuetec modified Louisville Slugger what a concept! :D

Wow, I miss baseball. Every winter is like hell for me. I honestly believe there is nothing better than a warm summer day and a light breeze at the ballpark. FOUR WEEKS TO GO!

"Jude, do you know why the Cowboys' stadium has a hole in the roof?"

I had no idea where this was going but went along and said, "no".

"So God can watch his team play."

God doesn't get a TV? I thought that was supposed to be a good job.

You've GOT to be kidding right? I just expressed an opinion in response to OP's question and then explained my views.

I didn't realize the forum was supposed to be a fantasy world...but to each his own.

Does the truth offend you?

As for Peer's definition of "honor" he is the authority on what he meant but take a look at what he POSTED:

"Well, you see the options -- cast your vote according to your conscience."

The implication is clear that he meant honor vs. dishonor (which is where conscience comes in) and not honor in the sense of winning an award where conscience is not a factor.

But I'll tell ya what. Please let me know whenever you enter your fantasy world regarding any given thread and I'll do my best not to pop your pink bubble.

And GEEZ yourself.

EDIT...I draw your attention to your exchange in the "Shame on You" thread:

I am sorry, I don't think it is depressing or sad. You said it correctly, it is. The rest of the world doesn't have to love what we do. It is there for us. Let it be!!
Peace, Purdman

Do you suffer from mood swings in addition to your excursions into fantasy worlds? I genuinely sympathize with you if that is true and hope that you will seek help

You are quite the sensitive little twit, aren't you? lodini was merely pointing out that you injected your usual negative posts in an otherwise very enjoyable thread.

And yeah, you completely misunderstood the whole point of the thread.

I grew up in the 50s and 60s. Willie Mays excelled in all 5 things you want a non pitcher to do: hit, hit with power, run, throw and field.Mickey Mantle could do the same things in the 50s, but, nagging injuries affected his running in the 60s

No, not sensitive at all really. And is lodini such a little twit that he/she can't speak for him/herself?

Here was my post that lodini found so objectionalbe:

It's tough up there in the bigs. They violate rules intentionally and are trained on how to get away with it. Pitchers don't mind throwing at your head with possibly serious harm as a result.

Defensive linemen wouldn't mind at all putting the opposing QB out for the game, the season for the career for that matter and would be cheered wildly by their fans if they did. (of course, those fans would applaud politely has the guy gets rolled off in a stretcher.

I'm not complaining about the above and am a major sports fan, sports fans...just tellin' it like it is.

Jim

What's the BIG DEAL? Don't you know that what I posted is exactly true or are you just STUPID?

And no, I didn't misunderstand the the whole purpose of the thread.

And no, my "usual' posts are not "negative"...only those in response to negative posts directed to me by snotty little twerps like you.

But THANKS for posting your self-portrait. Very enlightening.

Hey, at least it's pool-relative and substantive... feel free to move onto the other threads in this forum that have nothing to do with anything.

Don't get your panties into a knot, Francis. I don't have anything new to contribute to that conversation, therefore I didn't start the topic. I was trying to help you find the information you seek. Does the information have to come from a new thread that you started?

I mean, take it for what it's worth but Lodini is a personal friend of mine. She's a real sweetheart, very intelligent woman who loves being around the game. I really am astounded that such language would surround her posts even if you didn't actually direct that language at her.

Perhaps this has gone a little too far? Seriously, if you knew her, you'd take back everything you said.

Jude, I only know you by reputation...which is EXCELLENT and you are consistently one of the most informative posters on this forum.

I think the only time you and I "locked horns" was on the issue of how long it takes to get to Hall of Fame in a subway...and whether Amsterdam is downtown from mid-town. Mostly just a good joust.

I did not know that lodini was a woman (so many guys have avatars of women in various stages of dress and undress) Had I known that and certainly had I known she is a friend of yours I would have been more "gentle." As you know, there are few on this forum who have taken more stands in favor of women than I...and I've taken MAJOR heat for that.

But being "gender-neutral" is an admirable thing, I think, and she posted the following in response to my post that you quoted.

Geez... a fun question was thrown out, and we were all having fun answering and stepping into a fantasy world for just a second of our day. I guess we could look at things your way, but at least for me, I was just trying to enjoy myself for a minute.

(Plus, maybe the OP can clarify, but I dont think that's the type of "honor" he was referring to... I think it was more like "for the glory of it")

But either way, I hope someone hugs you today.

I was just expressing an opinion and used very real and very correct examples to support my point. CLEARLY, I did not disrespect pool or any poster here IN THE SLIGHTEST and yet she dumped on me for ruining her enjoyment of the thread.

MOST importantly, as you correctly pointed out...the very sharp nature of my post was NOT directed at her but at another poster who deserved what he got...and more.

I only asked THAT poster if lodini needed someone to fight fights for him/her (now I know it's "her).

Having said all that, while I think her post to me was WAY out of line, I certainly apologize to her if she took any personal offense at comments I directed to another poster....and I admire you for sticking up for a friend.

Regards,
Jim
