If you are an A B or C player

I would pay 100 buck just to sit and watch the Pro Practice so I know I would take this deal..

Would you pay not bet, pay $20 total to play an open or pro level player for 2-3hrs once per week, table time is covered.

It'd be a great opportunity. But I do have to wonder how much a C player would get out of the experience. Too far out of the right weight-class and all that.

B and C players would probably be more likely to learn something, than an A or A+ player. It is a lot easier for a B and C player to up their game a level, much more so than an A or A+ player.

I was thinking that the A/AA players would get more value out of it than the lower level players. The lower players most likely have alot of fundamental issues that they are still learning and the upper players are looking for that next thing to move up.

Me being a C player on a good day, would take this offer and my opponent/sparring partner would only have to be an A player (or better). My only stipulation is that it would have to be done at my house or a place very close to it.

Maniac (just wants someone to shoot pool with (playing for funsies) on a regular basis)

Yes I would play and do play for a larger sum than $20. I wish everybody was as motivated to play as the people on AZ. Most tourneys turn better players away due to lesser players laying out because they don't have a chance and feel they are donating.

You play badly PaulieB, but you rack as good as anyone in North America. Play me more often to get better. Try the lobster stuffed filet at the 39th st diner.

I thought about this reply for 20-30 minutes and provided tips to you, please send my $50.

Thank you.

I'd gladly pay 20 bucks for the chance. I'd pay 50 bucks if the better player spent 20-30 minutes after the match to critique my play and offer a couple tips.

Yep. snookers every Wednesday. Finding time to do it is a different issue.

There used to be a $10.00 race to 1 double elimination tournament at a local bar 3 miles from my house. I found out about it by accident and the first time i showed up, I was asked not to play. The fella running the thing thought I would ruin the tournament because they could not compete with me.

Uber Knit of the century award goes to these clowns.

I told them they would always play exactly how they do now so they have no illusion that they would ever compete. A race to 1 are you kidding me? I have no use for this thinking. I wish I had worded what i had to say better. If I could pay $10.00 to play Earl, Efren, Johnny Archer etc. I would never miss a week. I would maybe never win but if i did, you wouldn't be able to fit my head out the door.

This type of thinking is paralyzing. Pay the money. Have some heart. Get better. Good luck.

Sounds like another way to ask why A/B/C players might object to pros playing in a weekly non-handicapped double-elimination tournament with a $20 entry fee.

or

the lead-in to promoting such a tournament.

Yes I would

20 bucks for 2-3hrs, no table time, head to head shooting, sounds great and I don't care who the pro is

The universe is expanding at a faster rate than I originally thought.

If this means, that I would play in a tournament with another 63 players including some pros for a fistful of dollars for 2-3 hours, I already do that every Tuesday night and wouldn't be interested in that.

No worries, you can just show up here and do the same thing if you like!

Bro you know I wouldn't charge you! And don't worry about table time either!

Nope & not really lol, I am working hard on something and right now I'm just trying to take a pulse check to see where the average head is at now a days. I haven't been getting out much for last few years and az is gr8 to get you up to speed and provide feedback.

When I first started playing and losing money to better players I was often asked "Joe why you keep playing those guys?" Answer, so I can get rid of those 3 games on the freakin wire they keep giving me.
I want there to be a better way for aspiring players and higher level players to benefit from each other.

Another Joe who used to be a pro said to me that in the old days that's how you did it. You went after good players and if you got beat you came at them again and again until you were able to beat them and then you moved on. "Tracy" Joe Salazar told me that he had many ongoing battles with players in his day. He said they would butt heads and keep doing it until one of them quit for good.
