If you had to pick Team USA for Mosconi Cup today, who would your top five be?

They need to open it up to all of North America to even it up a bit. Europe population 742.5mil vs USA 318.9mil. North America 528.7mil. Seems legit

I wonder if the Philippines would have any trouble fielding a team with less than 100 mil. Or Taiwan with less than 25 mil.

Seems like the majority agrees about Shane, Dechaine, and both Justins. Looks like there's one slot that's a pick 'em or up in the air.

Yes, that's my feeling too. For fifth, maybe Corey, Sky, Oscar, Johnny...

Point taken  Just sayin eventually Europe might even get tired of the "all we do it win" chant :D

Picks From Last Year

I have to stick to my picks from last year: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=4925461&postcount=1

The team I would like to see:

1) Shane Van Boening
2) Mike Dechaine
3) Justin Bergman
4) Justin Hall
5) Skyler Woodward

1&2 SVB & MD because they are the best two rotation players we have to choose from.
3 JB third best, in my opinion, having first year gitters out of the way and on home turf will be no push over for anybody.
First three picks should be locks
4 JH was the best last year, very talented player that shows no fear, seems to work well with others and I just like the kid. Big plus having plenty of people around to make sure he shows up on time.
Fourth pick here I also feel should be a lock even if a captains pick is needed.
5 SW also a fearless player, a single mishap won't shake his confidence for long. Has the game to blend in well with at least three of the above. Also a kid I like a lot, the sky could be the limit for him.

Corey D, Oscar D, Johny A, Scott F, Jeremy S or Brandon S in the 5 spot wouldn't break my heart, but I still feel SW complements the scotch doubles better than the rest.

But the freezer isn't even in the top 15.

Perhaps you mean your top 15. He's currently 6th in the points race.

And here's the current list extended several places (subject to confirmation from Matchroom):

1. S. Van Boening -- 86 points
2. M. Dechaine -- 46
3. C. Deuel -- 45
4. S. Woodward -- 41
5. J. Bergman -- 35
6. S. Frost -- 34
7. J. Sossei -- 32
8. O. Dominguez -- 27
T9. B. Shuff -- 25
T9. J. Hall -- 25
T11. J. Roberts -- 21
T11. J. Archer -- 21
T11. R. Morris -- 21
14. T. D'Alfonso -- 18
15. D. Olson -- 17
16. B. Deska -- 15

With 30 points available to the winner at the US Open, it's possible (however unlikely) for any one of these players to wind up in the top 3 in points.

I like
SVB
2 Justins
Corey D
and I think Frost could really help to make it more of a teammate thing. He's been playing well too.
I think Mike D is a great player but I don't think he fits in as a team player.JMO

All the Mike D fans may start bashing me now if you like

Absent significant extenuating circumstances, when the times comes to finalize the team, I would take the top 5 on the points list.

So if I had to pick now, with only one event remaining, I'd do the same thing. And, fortunately, that looks like a pretty good team!

Do you know what the procedure is in case there is a tie in points and more than 3 players are at the top?

Is there some kind of tie breaker do they take all the players ?

Sorry, Terry, I don't know the answer to that.

To me it doesn't matter who wins as it is almost meaningless. I would just like to see some entertainment so here is my list

Keith
Sigel
Hall
Earl
Jim Mataya

The dramatics, play and vocals would be worth the price of admission.
