If you play one pocket for many days will it hurt your 9 ball game?

My problem is that I LOVE one pocket, and only want to play one pocket, so when im playing other games, its hard for me to really get into it. Im addicted to that damn one hole game, and when I play 9 ball I just cant get focused like I do when im playin one hole. Dont misunderstand me either, I suck at all pool games, but at least my mind is totally into the one pocket game. Also, in 1p it took me forever to get some pocket speed, so when I play 9ball, Ill hang balls in the damn pocket all night with "pocket speed" lol! The guy who taught me how to play 1p told me how important pocket speed was, but he never said it would work for 9ball!

For a while it might, but Not as much as playing 9 ball will hurt your 1 pocket game.

For the next three days, he played one pocket and only one pocket, and finished fifth in a field of several hundred. When the one pocket ended, he played nine ball exclusively for three days, and finished fifth out of several hundred.

Would be tough to argue that three grueling days of playing one pocket practically all day and all night brought his nine ball game down at all.

Good point! I think this depends entirely on the person and their work eithic!

idon't play lke I used to by any means, mother nature is making sure of that. However, now I play mostly1 pocket and Ilove the game, but when I practice now, Ipractic exclusively 9 ball. A stoke shouldbe a stroke, but it is so easy to shorten your stroke playing 1 pocket as you do cinch many balls and put a different touch on them and slow roll balls far more than playing 9 ball!

Ihave consitently beaten the ghost for years and years, but after playing only 1 pocket for many months, I was propsitioned to play the ghost a few months ago and was beaten 6 straight sets. i couldn't run out if I had opened every door in the building!It was not only an expensive lesson, but, a valuable one!

iequate it to like going from bar table to big table, for most that is tough. Although big table to bar table should take about a 2 minute adjustment!

I know exactly what you mean. When my first wife's trailer burned down she moved in with me and my second wife for a couple of months. Boy, I'm telling you boy, I was out of stroke for weeks. :grin:
